Thanks for sharing your story with us David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My interest in the brain began with my own concussion I experienced when I was 14 years old. I realized after my head injury, a lot of seemingly unrelated symptoms started to appear in my life. As I learned over time all of these symptoms were a consequence of my concussion. As a student, I was a resident under Dr. Carrick who is a world renowned expert in brain injury and rehabilitation. This experience exposed me to patients around the world with severe neurological conditions. I learned the most appropriate way to both assess and manage neurological conditions. This experience led to a neurological consulting business where I was flown around the world to help assist other practitioners on effective assessment and management of brain injuries. While I still do consulting, I felt a need to set up a local clinic and be of assistance to a people around my community. This is why we started South Florida Integrative Health. We commonly have patients fly from around the world to our clinic in Miami for treatment, however, we now have the ability to see patients locally and for an extended period of time.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I could not be happier with how our clinic has grown in just over 1 year. My partner and I are not from Florida so it has been an adjustment living in Miami. However, we love the city and the diverse population. Being in a major city, there is a challenge to educate people on who we are and what we do and how we can help. With the majority of our patients flying in from around the world for our care, we are continuously trying to better understand how we can inform the local Miami community on our services.

Our company specializes in neurological health. We use state-of-the-art technology to assess and treat neurological. Because the brain controls everything in your body, and everything in your body has an impact on the brain, it is our responsibility to have the ability to assess the whole individual and not just a part of the patient. This means not only do we focus on the nervous system, but also nutritional, emotional, and musculoskeletal health. As a company we are most proud of the improvements our patients make under our care. Our job is to educate and guide our patients toward improved health, however it is our patients who do most of the work. We are very proud of our patients who are dedicated towards reducing their symptoms and improving their lives and there is no better feeling when you are able to help another person live a happier and more satisfying life. What sets us apart from others is our advanced education on the nervous system and current evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic approaches regarding brain health. Most people get their blood pressure, cholesterol, and teeth assessed regularly. However, with the rapid increase in neurotraumatic, neurodevelopmental, and neurodegenerative conditions, we believe everyone should also have their brain health assessed on a regular basis. We believe we have a solution for those who not only want to assess the status of their brain health, but also innovative therapies to help improve brain health.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our plans are to continue to hire more doctors and staff as well as grow our clinic to allow us to help more people. We expect to open a new clinic in a bigger space soon as we have already started to outgrow our space in just over 1 year. We also have more advanced technology we plan on incorporating into our clinic to help improve our patient outcomes.
