Today we’d like to introduce you to Luz Pellegrino.
Luz, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised in Mexico City, I started my studies on Ayurveda (the healing system from India) back in 1995 specializing in Ayurvedic massage and Panchakarma therapies. I completed my professional certification as an Ayurveda Educator and Meditation instructor from the Chopra Center for Wellbeing and began my first commercial practice in 2001.
I relocated to Florida in 2004 where I continued my studies on clinical Ayurveda and completed an advanced professional certification as Ayurvedic Practitioner from the Chopra Center University. During this learning journey, I have had the privilege of studying with renown teachers in the field such as Deepak Chopra, David Simon, David Frawley, Suhas Kshirsagar, John Douillard and Vasant Lad.
In 2011, I established Jothi Vita Ayurvedic Spa & Wellbeing Center in Hollywood, Florida with the mission of bringing the message of Ayurveda as a healing alternative and lifestyle improvement. We offer to nurture Ayurvedic massage therapy and body treatments, organic skin care programs, Panchakarma (1-week luxurious cleansing and rejuvenation therapy). We extend our personal treatments to include other complementary wellness services, such as Yoga and Ayurveda Lifestyle classes, Meditation workshops and personal consultations.
To complement my healing practice, I also obtained my certification as Past-Life Regression therapist from Dr. Brian Weiss.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I am of the belief that nothing can be achieved without dedication, hard work, and perseverance. In this field of alternative medicine and holistic healing modalities, you may find many people offering services without proper qualifications and specialized training. As a result, I have met people that have been discouraged by the lack of results with improving their health or have a misconception of what Ayurveda is.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jothi Vita Ayurvedic Spa & Wellbeing Center – what should we know?
We are the only Ayurvedic center in South Florida offering authentic therapeutic treatments based on India’s 5,000-year-old healing system: Ayurveda. We have a full-service Spa where we specialize in Ayurvedic massage and body treatments but also offer western massage modalities such as deep tissue, hot stone, sports massage and more.
Additionally, we offer daily Yoga classes and run periodic programs which include meditation workshops, classes on Ayurvedic lifestyle, vibrational healing sessions and special events design to promote wellness practices.
Our most important program is called Panchakarma, which is a week-long retreat during which our clients experience a deep cleansing and rejuvenation at a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level. This therapy was designed in ancient India by Ayurvedic practitioners to promote longevity of royal families. This luxurious treatment includes daily massage therapies with warm herbal oils and steam, yoga, meditation, organic vegetarian diet, detoxifying herbs and teas, colon cleansing, digestive tract restoration, and daily consultation. As the tissues detoxify, thoughts and emotions settle, allowing the person to access new energy levels and rejuvenate.
While everyone can enjoy Panchakarma to support good health, it is especially recommended for people experiencing chronic stress, having symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia or weakness, or for those with high toxicity accumulated in their body.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I am profoundly grateful to my dedicated staff who have shown their commitment since we opened our doors 7 years ago, embracing our mission of helping others by sharing the powerful but gentle Ayurvedic healing modalities with all our clients.
Our massage therapists have years of experience in the field, some of them are also Yoga instructors, and in one way or the other, they have incorporated the Ayurvedic principles into their own lifestyle and have become true ambassadors, bringing in this beautiful wisdom of life into our community.
