Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Grondin and Jorge Sanchez.
Scott and Jorge, please share your story with us.
Jorge and I both have an extensive background in sports and training. After our playing days ended after college, we still had the hunger for competition or what comes with it, training. We kept running into each other at a local gym and neighboring parks. Eventually, we began to train together and create that competitive atmosphere in our training that both of us were looking for.
What initially started as positive atmosphere to train ourselves, friends, and family continued to grow much larger than what was expected. We started with one park then another, and another, until finally, we had 4 parks going and the local gym, and so the craze of boot camps began. Not long after this, we opened our first location which was a CF gym in North Miami.
Although this proved to be a successful business with over 400 members, we felt the need to get back to our roots in the playing fields. The desire to educate clients on athletic development, functional training, and sports specific performance training. So we moved locations and restructured our business plan in order to fulfill our goals. In this transition comes ADAPT, which is short for Athletic Development And Performance Training.
Our new business model allows us the diversity to impact our client’s lives as well as our own. With fewer clients and more attention to detail, our model from the beginning is “Quality over Everything” We value our clients in the highest regards and treat each of them as part of the family.
Has it been a smooth road?
As with any business, there are always challenges. Finding a location, permits and zoning, construction, to sales and marketing proved challenging all while trying to bring and maintain clients through the doors.
One unforgettable moment we constantly reminisce about is our first summer as we were trying to open we already had a contract with college football program running their strength and conditioning program. We had to rent out a separate space 15 miles away and train 150-200 college level football players 4-6 days per week. This constant commuting and coaching while trying to expedite permits and build out our facility was a daunting task, to say the least. We believe the fact that the two of us were able to tackle this together made us believe that together with our potential is endless.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with ADAPT – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
“Quality over everything” is our motto. We make sure this is evident in all aspects of our business, from training to customer service. We continue to evolve in this industry by offering a professional coaches approach and a clinical athlete mind set.
Our team and network are what we pride ourselves most on. We are blessed to be surrounded by an incredible and knowledgeable staff. Each of our team members has bachelors or higher in the exercise science field, but most importantly great character and thirst to continue to grow with ADAPT.
Our team and attention to detail are what set us apart from our competition. Each client is treated as part of the family. This is evident the moment you walk into the facility and speak with our staff.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Diversity is one of the best parts of being in Miami, and specifically North Miami. We both grew up here and love the community it has. The weather is also amazing! Specifically for our business and love of sports, Miami allows us to constantly be outside and active. Sports and its training are a year-round process which keeps us constantly busy.
Humidity would probably have to be the biggest negative of Miami. It makes training a little more challenging as well as maintenance of equipment and the facility more difficult.
