Today we’d like to introduce you to Aspasia Pappa.
Aspasia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Miami has always been a dream city to me. I am originally from Athens, Greece. First time I visited Miami in 2000 it was love at first sight. I met my husband, who is Greek American from Boston, in Greece and we decided to get in a plane and come to America to start fresh in 2013! A few eventful, to say the least, months later NAILED was born.
Not your average nail salon, but rather a cool hangout where everybody is welcomed seven days a week. In our fourth year grateful and proud for what we have done so far, hopeful and optimistic for what lies ahead!
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a small business is challenging enough on its own. Starting a business in a city a state a country that is new to you makes the whole endeavor even harder. We can hardly count the sleepless nights or the stressful days, the sweats and tears along the way. But when what started as a crazy idea back in Athens, Greece a few years ago, becomes an actual business, the feeling of accomplishment and the happiness make it all worthwhile. The bureaucracy at the city and county, chasing after contractors and inspectors so as not to lose another day are things that only a small business owner can understand. Finally, the most important and challenging thing for us was to put together the right team of people who can attend to the needs of customers who live and visit South Beach from all over the world with very different budgets and experiences.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

We will do our best to make every experience memorable.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Miami Beach is hands down the right place to start a service business. The mix of people and the sheer number of tourists that visit the city (from the suburbs, the state, the country, Europe Asia or Australia) make it an ideal location. However, as expected, the costs of starting up a business here are high compared to other locations. The access to the work force is challenging as well, given that the people who actually make this city the playground of the world cannot afford to live close by anymore. The inefficiency of public transportation as well as high parking costs and traffic in and out of the city are also important issues the local workforce and subsequently businesses face.
