As a teenager, I suffered from acne of the face, chest & back which continued well into my late 20’s even after countless failed acne treatments, medication/acne products recommended by many dermatologists and skincare experts.
I moved to New York City in 1997 to study and pursue my dream of becoming a Vegetarian Chef. After touring the cooking school on my way back home faith would have it I had a glimpse of an advertisement on a bus for a popular skincare school. That minute it then dawned on me that I could possibly clear my own skin if I knew how so instead of cooking school I enrolled in the Lia Schorr Institute one of the leading skincare schools in New York City to become an Aesthetician.
After becoming a state–licensed Esthetician, I gained experience working at several prestigious spas and Dermatology Practices, and later opened my own day spa where I had my own private label line of skincare products.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
At the height of my career I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, I underwent transsphenoidal surgery to remove the tumor. Two years after my surgery during a routine MRI my Neurosurgeon discovered some residual tissue that was left over from the procedure. I then opted for Gamma Knife Radiosurgery a type of radiation therapy used to treat tumors. This procedure successfully destroyed the unhealthy tissue and as a result I am now tumor free. I still suffer from a few complications from the tumor but instead of focusing on the negative I count my blessings. My experience having a brain tumor has made me stronger, more giving and appreciative of life.

My years of extensive research and continuing education along with my passion for skincare science and ingredient technology lead me to specialize in result-focused treatments to address aging, pigmentation disorders and acne.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up on a farm in St Catherine, Jamaica, the only daughter and eldest of 4. I was very shy growing up I was also, warm, curious and nurturing. When not caring for my younger brothers, many of my days were spent at the local rivers or beaches, enjoying the sun and swimming in the crystal clear water. Some of my fondest memories growing up on a farm are caring for animals, fishing, climbing trees, planting and picking flowers, fresh fruits and vegetables.
I feel as though I am able to appreciate the beauty of island life and how lucky I am to have grown up there.
