Today we’d like to introduce you to Maegan Calle.
Maegan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since I learned to write, I was writing my own series. Underneath my bed is an entire volume of books I created as a child. Through middle and high school, I was on the yearbook committee and editor of both yearbooks. Words have always been my passion.
Entering my relationship with the man who is now my husband relit my fire. I began expressing my relationship’s passion through poetry. Instead of hiding these pieces of work, I decided to compile them and publish a book.
This is just the first step in my journey. I have already published two poetry books and dream to see my name in lights. I aspire to work for the greatest magazine companies. I am an influencer and I am a writer.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every day is a struggle. I’m nowhere near where I want to be. Finding a venue to host a book signing has been so difficult. Finding stores to sell copies at their location has been difficult. With these bumps, I have yet to overcome, I pray that one day, I finally find an opportunity that will help me achieve my goals.
My advice to anyone is never to give up. No matter how intangible a dream may seem to anyone around you, continue to chase it. Dreams have no barriers, literally and figuratively.
Please tell us about Author.
I am a published author, writer, and influencer. These are my specialties. Besides my two poetry books, I have had articles featured in different magazines and only blogs. I also am an online influencer. I am known more in the motorcycle community for trying motorcycle clothing and gear. I make posts retesting the brands. This has led to different branding opportunities where I test products from leggings to shower curtains! So many people can relate to my poetry, my promotional videos that I have a platform of followers who enjoy hearing from me.
My funny and real attitude is so relatable. This makes me stand apart from other influencers. I believe if more people got to know me, they would not only be more interested in the companies I represent but want to work with me themselves.
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
We, women, are so lucky to have all of the opportunities we do. Women are incredible creatures who nurture situations better than any man and are simply smarter. Women are lucky to be in the position of being pregnant. I used to look at it as a punishment but the connection I feel to my baby is indescribable. I would not trade how close I was to my baby at birth for anything.
If we are referring to business opportunities women are clever. I think if a woman and a man got equal training, 99% of the time a woman could do any job better.
