Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Triana.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a young girl, I dreamed of crafting literary works that would inspire the masses. I enjoyed staying up way too late journaling about my philosophies and writing poetry that fervently depicted my teenage self. Although my adolescent self-fantasized about Pulitzer Prizes and bestselling recognition one thing remained; I wanted to make a difference. This took shape a little differently as an adult. I studied literature in college earning a Bachelor of Arts in English, received a Master of Nonprofit Management degree and dedicated myself to the nonprofit sector.
Throughout my career, I have worked with nonprofit organizations focused on issues ranging from health and education to the basic human rights of immigrants. I worked for the City of Hialeah (where I lived most of my life) and assisted in the growth of several children’s programs in low-income neighborhoods. I also previously served as the Development Officer at Camillus House coordinating fundraising efforts to assist the poor and homeless in Miami. Working to serve the most vulnerable individuals in the community broadened my knowledge around barriers to success and deepened my personal mission to continue to help those in need. This led me to an opportunity at the Broward Public Library Foundation as the Major Gifts & Planned Giving Officer.
I am honored to be part of the Library Foundation team, leading development efforts to help the Broward County Library system thrive. My passion for building meaningful relationships while connecting donors to the causes they care about continue to drive my efforts professionally. Whether it’s time, treasure or talent, we can all do our part to make the world a better place and we can start TODAY with our local community.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Finding a healthy balance between work and home can be tricky. At the same time, it’s a blessing to be able to do what you love while impacting the people you love and the community you love.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Broward Public Library Foundation is the catalyst in sparking private funding to enrich the Broward County Library System. Through the generosity of its donors, the Foundation is able to underwrite numerous programs and events that complement Broward County tax dollars, such as ACT/SAT prep classes for high school students, a summer learning program, the annual Books ‘n’ Bears at the Holidays program for disadvantaged preschool children and the free co-working space Creation Station Business.
As the 10th largest library in the United States and the largest library in Florida with 39 locations, the Broward County Library is truly a remarkable library system. More than just rows of bookshelves, libraries are important community hubs that serve as centers of learning, information, health and culture. It’s the place where the doors are always open, offering the same information and opportunities for success to everyone. Now, more than ever, these free public spaces are vital institutions.
