Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Raffard.
Vincent, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved to Miami in 2007 from Paris France, as a professional musician. I found Miami very eclectic and interesting of the mix of the music culture, at the beginning I was here for vacation and I met so many people in a short time that make me changed my life, It was like a destiny orientation and a big changed, I was 27 year and ready to do the move from Paris and find a new life !! I had an amazing opportunity to exchange, learn, meet and understand the city in my first 5 years. I met incredible people who I learned a lot from.
Then in 2012 I created my business ” The French Horn ” as a musician and trumpet player/multi instrumentiste I needed a name so – I am French and I play the Horn, “the French Horn” was born.
At the beginning I had a regular gig at the Tudor house in Miami beach and I started play with a lot of different musicians, different venue started contacting me and the business was growing. I was the opening band at Lagniappe in Midtown and that make me go to the next step. I found most of my regular musicians there and the Collective was born.
What make the difference to the other band is my repertoire from my culture. I am 100% French Parisian and I assume!! So I mix my original music as a singer songwriter and the French Classic as Edith Piaf to Django Reinhardt.
I also keep the French as my singing band leading language. I enjoy singing in French and that make me connect with my roots and make people travel with me.
Today the band is releasing the 3rd album and we are starting travelling to different parts of Florida, key west to Gainesville… I am extremely thankful for the opportunity and work the city gave me and I am very thankful for the people I met and who are working with me on this beautiful entertainment business adventure.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was a smooth road with some struggles like every thing, But I was confident on it.
I worked very hard and a put lot of effort, sacrifice and determination to do it.
I am still working hard and training myself for it!! Performing almost every night is not easy! But it’s my job and I love it!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The French Horn – what should we know?
My business is music live entrainment, I play guitar, horn, sing and write music. I am specialize in French music and old jazz. I am known for the French singing/eclectic gypsy jazz band and the good fun vibes and the quality of the music.
I am most proud of my musicians who are amazing extremely talented and continue to support me on my dream and business. Also, I am proud that I can do it with a very good attitude and keep loving it!
The difference from other is our professionalism, repertoire, culture and experience.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
