Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Walker-Thomas.
Hi Michael , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Michael Walker-Thomas. I got started in the business eight years ago and it has been amazing. I have been writing for a very long time, and my books are sold worldwide. I grew up in Philadelphia, so I had to survive and be motivated to get to where I am now. Growing up there made me realize that I can travel and make the most out of my goals and dreams. My first trip was to Miami, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Now, selling my books online, at events, and more, has made living in Florida that much more impactful. I have sold my books at the Miami book fair, and I love being apart of that event. I published my first book in 2018, and now I have published ten books. Being an entrepreneur is a grind. The hustle it takes to sell books and get them out into the world is a lot, but it is worth it. When I was younger, in elementary school, I dreamed about writing books, writing stories, and more. Now, my craft has got me here, and I have so much more to do. My brother says I have much range with my writing. I write stories in the fiction and non fiction genres, adventure stories, devotionals, and more. I also give back to my community by educating kids, and counseling them as well.
My favorite quote is by Mark Twain -“Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
Enjoying life, traveling, praying, having peace, creating great habits. Those are my luxuries in life. Everything that I went through as a child has me here, and I am here to keep hustling and running this marathon. My writing process is simple, keep writing and keep telling stories.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. The road less traveled is one of my favorite poems. The road you choose to travel will take you down many obstacles and challenges. I have had books not sell many copies, and I have had books make it to number one in the world, Like Chess Moves, and God A:M and God P:M. I am proud of all of my books, but sometimes you want them all to do well, but that sometimes is not possible. Persistence and determination is a key to success in my industry.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have published ten books, available worldswide. A Boy with a Dream, Sibling Strong.Chess Moves 1 and 2, The Voices You May Not Hear Trilogy, The Adventures of Tom Wandermind, God A:M and God P:M, and Three Writers You Should Know. I am known for being an Educator and an Author. I specialize in wiring and telling stories. I am most proud of my work because I really take my time with my stories. I want to make sure my readers can visualize themselves with my stories and poems. My poetry take the reader to another place, and I have heard so many times that my poems are very uplifting. What sets me apart from others is how much I much work, and the dedication I put into my writing and my craft. My stories are very eye opening and very impactful.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to keep promoting my books. I am also in the process of starting my own practice, focusing on artist, athletes, and mental health. My group will make sure individuals are loved, and help them navigate their future. I am looking forward to helping each and every person that comes in contact with me and my team.
