Check Out Crist Thony’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crist Thony.

Hi Crist, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story began around the age of 17, with a broken phone and a newly discovered talent for creative storytelling. I mentally developed my entire first self-published book over the course of about two months, until I could scrape together enough change to fix the cracked screen on my iPhone 6. Then I finally wrote it down—Monkeysuit, my first completed story.

It tells the story of a man whose birth shook the foundation of creation, forcing the government to place him in isolation due to his unique abilities. The story follows his life in captivity, his mind-boggling escape, and his eventual rise to political power. During his ascent, a warrior emerges to challenge the man known only as “the King.” Will he prevail, or fall to the will of His Majesty?

At that point in my life, I had yet to read a book. Today, I have written 19 scripts and recently shot my first feature film, The Hearseman.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth road? Not in the slightest. Every step along the journey begs the question, “How bad do you want it?” Anything is possible, but anything worth having doesn’t come easy. Years of rejection, lack of funding, and being told you’re not good enough. Peers who can’t comprehend what God showed you try to convince you to switch lanes—not out of malice, but out of love. Most buckle under that weight, but if you keep pushing forward, results are inevitable.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a up and coming screenwriter/director/producer.

I specialize in creative writing.

My current gathered attention stems from my most recent film “ The Hearseman.” landing me over 300 film festival invites world wide and access to film markets as well as an opportunity to be interviewed by this amazing magazine.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
My city is vibrant and alive. It’s filled with striking sculptures, buildings adorned with creative, individualized wall art, and, most of all, people—each with their own unique perspective on life.

What do I like least about it? The traffic, The overall cut throat environment. Though a lion is a beautiful creature its fangs can tear apart flesh. You would be surprised about the fangs hidden behind a smile if you don’t have your wits and proper tools on how to defend yourself.
