Community Highlights: Meet Jonathan Ben-Omry of ISRAELI DEFENSE KRAV MAGA INC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Ben-Omry.

Hi Jonathan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story has really been about growth through discipline, experience, and persistence. I started by following my passion for Krav Maga, self-defense, and helping people become more confident and empowered. What began as something deeply personal to me was shaped by my life experience, my service in the IDF, where I served as Head Krav Maga Instructor for a special forces commando unit, and later through security work, where I gained real-life experience applying what I teach while dealing with violence, chaos, and pressure. Those experiences taught me a great deal not only about self-defense, but also about myself.

Over time, that path grew into a business and a much bigger purpose. Along the way, I’ve had to wear many hats — coach, mentor, business owner, communicator, and problem solver. That journey has taught me the value of consistency, adaptability, and showing up even when things are hard. I also believe that positivity and the right mindset are essential, and they are things I work on every day.

Today, I’m someone who values hard work, self-mastery, and continuous improvement. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I feel truly blessed to be able to help the people around me become the best versions of themselves. I’m excited about where I’m going and about continuing to grow, serve, and make a meaningful impact.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. Like most meaningful journeys, mine has come with challenges, setbacks, and a great deal of learning along the way.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to adapt through different phases of life and responsibility. The path from military service, to security work, to building a business — and everything in between — has required constant growth. Moving between different continents also forced me to adjust, stay resilient, and keep moving forward no matter what.

Along the way, I’ve had to learn from every setback rather than be defined by it. I’ve learned to lean into suffering, grow through it, and use those lessons to become the best version of myself. That, in turn, allows me to help others become the best versions of themselves as well.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about ISRAELI DEFENSE KRAV MAGA INC?
Israeli Defense Krav Maga Inc. is dedicated to real-world self-defense, personal protection, and empowerment through practical, high-level training. I specialize in Krav Maga and self-defense instruction built on real experience and real-life application, with a strong emphasis on mindset, confidence, and preparedness.

What sets me apart is authenticity. My background in the IDF as Head Krav Maga Instructor for a special forces commando unit, combined with years of security experience in high-pressure environments, has shaped a teaching style focused on simple, effective, reality-based skills that work under stress.

I am known for personalized instruction, high standards, and helping people become stronger, safer, and more confident. What I am most proud of is that the brand stands for empowerment, discipline, and real transformation.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice for finding a mentor or networking is to be genuine, respectful, and consistent. The strongest connections are built naturally over time through authenticity, shared values, and professionalism.

What has worked best for me is building real relationships, showing up consistently, doing good work, and staying open to learning. I also believe mentorship does not always have to be formal. Some of the best lessons come through honest conversations, observation, and learning from people with real experience.

Communication, in my opinion, is one of the most important traits. Being able to respectfully speak your mind and clearly communicate what you are looking for with honesty and integrity is essential to building meaningful relationships.
