Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Betancourt.
Hi Christopher, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Christopher Betancourt. My story is a funny one, it has a lot to do with the lack of effort I once gave the world, and how it showed me early on that it wasn’t getting me anywhere. Back then, I had a real lack of ambition and foresight, and I learned fast that coasting doesn’t take you far.
As much as it sounds like a sob story, it’s the truth, and I tell it to anyone who asks. My goal is to one day show people how opportunistic the world really is, and that at the end of the day, you truly can do anything you put your mind to.
My main factor of success has nothing to do with material wealth — it has everything to do with believing in people. People will push your agenda further than any money or education ever will. That’s the secret to our beautiful world, and you see it every day: people achieve incredible things. It’s never been a person — it’s people.
I have big ambitions and goals. I always tell people I know I’m going to be a one percenter, and the only way I’m going to make that happen is by starting young and early. I currently have one semester left in my bachelor’s at NSU (Nova Southeastern University) for Computer Science, while tackling owning a business for over a year and a half now.
My main gig is Coffee Christopher — a full set-up mobile coffee service for events and vending. I’ve taken a lot of big strides, with the allocated risks included, to scale as fast as possible in that time. Not only has that presented me ample opportunity, but that risk has also allowed me to create amazing networks and connections to some of the best people in the business.
Remember: it’s people, never a person.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I believe a Smooth Road means different things to everyone. If you mean a completely “Smooth Road” — no potholes, no bumps between here and back — I’m sorry to tell anyone doing anything, but that’s unrealistic. And if you think anyone has become the person, business, partner, friend — anything — by getting a completely “Smooth Road,” realize there’s no such thing.
There will always be bumps. Those bumps are there to guide you and teach you. The difference between the greats and the median is the ability to navigate through treacherous waters and still come out better — greater — the next time you run into a similar problem.
My mom always taught me that things happen for a reason. I’m a believer in fate, and as scary as fate can be, the only way to overcome it is by taking what the world gives you and turning that fate into gold.
That being said, out of all the problems I’ve had, the most recent — and the most unfortunate — was my handmade wooden coffee cart falling out of a trailer onto the road on my way back from an event. Everything was great. The event went well. I remember playing music loud and proud on my way home… until I heard the loudest crash I’ve ever heard. I thank God every day nothing more happened — no cars hit, no people harmed — but it hurt my heart that something I worked so hard for, something I had been planning and growing with up to that point, came crashing down in seconds.
In that moment, I was defeated. Two days later, I had a big event — so I did what I do best and solved the problem. I made some calls, took the next two days to plan, and bought whatever I needed to make that event as special as the rest. After two straight days of thinking, driving, and buying, I informed the event holders of what happened. I showed up with a nice table setup, all my machines ready, and I served 120 people in two hours.
Things happen. Move on. Be better — if not for the people around you, then for yourself. You are your greatest asset.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, I’m Coffee Christopher — your favorite barista with the best coffee in South Florida. I run a mobile coffee barista service for events all around Florida, and I bring the best energy to every event… literally and figuratively.
My greatest asset is my charisma. I love talking with people, and I love problem solving. That charisma is what got me into this business, and it’s what’s driven my product, my growth, and the way I scale.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to build lasting bridges with people — to connect, adapt, and make it work no matter what. That’s also the part of my brand I’m most proud of… me. I am Coffee Christopher, and I’ll always make sure you leave happy, no matter what it takes.
I always tell people: let’s work together. You tell me what you need, and we’ll get it done — not me… we. If you have a 30-person event, I’m there. If you have a 1,000-person event, I’m there — and I’ll make sure I everything is bigger and better to match what you need.
At the end of the day, it takes two to tango, and I’ll make sure you always have the best partner.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My best advice — and I tell people this genuinely — is to just go for it.
Of course, measure yourself. Risk is included at every step, and you have to realize your actions will always have consequences. But if you trust yourself, if you believe you’re smart and capable, and you’ve honed your skill set to be ready for what’s coming when you step into the ring… go for it.
The worst someone can tell you is to f*** off, or maybe you look stupid — but what’s the difference when 8 billion other people have the capability to change your life?
So tell me: what’s stopping you from walking into the most important person’s office you know and asking for five minutes of their time? What’s stopping you from leaving a voicemail to the CEO who hasn’t responded to your text in a week?
The answer is nothing. Go for it — and never look back.
