Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Evan Rudman of Boca Raton

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Evan Rudman. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Evan, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Usually I either go to class or my 9-5 job. If I have class then I tutor accounting intro classes in between for extra cash. Afterwards, I usually go to the gym then eat dinner and record some content for my socials. If my band has a show then that’s how I spend my night but if not, I usually go to the movie theater and edit my drum cover.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Evan Rudman and I’m a drummer for 3 local bands. I’ve been playing for about 5 years now. I think what makes my content unique is that I’ve been posting since I’ve started. This gives my viewers the unique opportunity to see how far I’ve come and grown as a musician. I also hope that it allows other artists and creators to gain the confidence to start posting even if they are just starting. Another unique thing is that I post a new video every other day. I used to post everyday but with my work that has become too much. I’m still glad I’m able to stick to a routine and keep content flowing.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
I believe I have my parents to thank for my work ethic. Both of them always work hard to find a solution and way to get things done. I try to carry that same mindset to reach the goals I want to achieve. My parents always tried to move barriers to make me happy and provide what I asked for and I hope to do the same for my followers and people in my life. Both of my parents also carry alot of passion. For my dad it is also music and for my mom it is tennis. Seeing their passion helped me create my own for music and the work I do.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Due to my consistent posting, I’ve seen all the variations that the algorithms offer creators. There’s been times on YouTube where every short I post gets less than 10 views. I probably experienced about a year of that, but I stuck to my routine. I knew that there were still people who looked forward to my videos, and I wanted to provide for them. Over time, this consistency has paid off because now my YouTube shorts are back to getting 1K per video. If you can push through the hard times and maintain your work ethic than you can accomplish anything.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie I see in my industry is that you have to abuse substances to be cool and make it. In my entire life, I have never drank, smoked, or done a single drug and I never plan to. So many musicians abuse these substances thinking they need them to be creative but that is a lie. Usually these substances get more in the way. Those who abuse weed tend to have a poor work ethic that hinders their ability to get things done and those who drink too much usually lose a good gig. I also notice that alot of musicians think it has to be all or nothing. Either work a 9-5 or skip college and focus all on music. I believe it’s good to balance both and keep ur foot in both doors so either path is open based off how your future plays out.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I feel as though many people don’t understand the importance of time management and communication. So many people make excuses and false promises and then say “oh I’m too busy”. I feel as though my story shows that there really isn’t such a thing as too busy. If you want something truly then you can make time for it. Don’t lie to people, don’t tell people you can do something when you know you can’t. People may hate you for being honest and direct but in the long run it’s what makes you a good person because not only are you saving them time but you are doing what’s best for the both of you.
