Today we’d like to introduce you to Selina Savage.
Hi Selina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Germany and got into theatre as a teenager. I always loved acting in school and took on multiple roles in our school plays, which eventually led me to work at a theatre in my mom’s hometown. That’s really where my passion for performing started to grow.
When I later visited my aunt in Tampa, I was discovered by the owner of AMTC, a Christian acting school, and ended up enrolling in their New York classes. That opportunity is what pushed me to move to the U.S. Once I arrived, I worked at a restaurant on Collins Ave and began doing background work in different Miami productions, including Ballers, Alvin and the Chipmunks, War Dogs, The Irishman, and others. I even traveled to Atlanta for a few shows like Powers.
Those early years were challenging. I didn’t know anyone, lived in a hostel, and had to figure everything out on my own. But over time I built a community, made friends through the restaurant, and eventually became roommates with colleagues I worked with. Looking back, it’s amazing to see everything it took to keep pursuing my dreams.
I eventually earned my bachelor’s degree in TV & Film at MDC and now own my own production company and rental space for filmmakers. Today, I’m happily living with my partner, our two kids, and our dog..
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I still feel like there are hills and mountains ahead of me. But my faith in God has helped me get through every valley of uncertainty.
When I first started, I had to build everything from zero, I didn’t know anyone, and I barely had any money in my bank account. Still, I refused to let that stop me. I’ve always had a lot of faith, and I know I’m capable of enduring a lot and working hard toward my goals.
There were moments when I wanted to give up and just go back home. Not having family nearby made everything harder, and it could get very lonely at times. But every challenge taught me something and pushed me to keep going..
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Producer for indie films and also work as a Production Manager / Assistant Production Supervisor on commercials. I really love what I do because every project brings different people together to create something new. Whether it’s a small short film or a multi-million dollar commercial, the collaboration and the challenge always excite me.
I’m very proud that most of my work comes through word of mouth. People hire me because of my reputation as an efficient and reliable worker. I’m authentic, I keep my word, and I treat every project with the same level of care and seriousness as if it were my own. That’s something that truly sets me apart.
What makes you happy?
I have many things that make me happy! Traveling with my kids, watching them grow, and seeing them play with their cousins always brings me joy. I also love having free time to simply be with my family.
On the work side, I’m happy when I complete tasks and everything runs smoothly or gets done the right way. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see my business, MADS Production Haus, thrive and to watch people come into our space to create new projects.
I could honestly list so much more.
