Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxanne Dixon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Roxanne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I moved to Florida in January of 2012. Prior to settling in Palm Beach, I resided in New York.
I found my love and passion for planning events when I worked at LinkUp Media/JAMROCK Magazine in New York. LinkUp Media/JAMROCK Magazine is a media and entertainment company. I was the director and coordinator for all events. I planned and coordinated events such as semi-annual music concerts, monthly concerts and weekly concerts. In addition, I planned Holiday Parties, Press Events, Birthday Parties, Fashion Shows, Dinner Parties and many more. I enjoyed and excelled in the events planning industry.
In 2009, after 5 years of working for the Media and Entertainment Company, I decided to start my own Company. I came up with the name, One Dream Vision (You Dream it and I will bring your vision to life). One Dream Vision started in my kitchen while sipping on tea. My concept for the business was marketing and events planning. To this day, I still perform marketing and events planning services.
My excitement and dedication to my craft prompted me to create a website, social media networking platforms, gorilla marketing and paid advertisements. I went as far as posting my services on the bulletin boards in the laundromats and grocery stores in New York. I did all of this, while still working 50-60 hours a week at the media company. I maintained a very tight scheduled. Anyhow, I managed to plan and coordinate my company’s events during my spare time. I barely slept!
In 2011 after booking numerous events through referrals and new clients, I decided to resign from my full-time job and to work for my business 100%. For my company to flourish, I needed to put all my eggs into one basket. I did just that and never looked back. In 2012, I moved to Florida and continued my passion. Some of my New York clients followed me to Florida.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. As stated earlier, I worked a full-time busy job while working on my own business. It took a lot to make a name for myself. I worked very long hours. The hours at times took me away from my family.
In addition, I spent my own money on advertisements which often cost a pretty penny at times. Moreover, when I moved to Florida, I had to re-build and transform my business to fit the current market trend.

One Dream Vision is a full-service event planning company. We provide planning, marketing and coordinating services for social and corporate events. Events such as Birthday Parties, Baby Showers, Weddings, Bachelor/Bachelorette Parties, Graduation Parties, Concerts, Club Events, Luncheons, Press/Media Launches and more. However, as a certified Kids Party Planner, we specialize in children parties.
At One Dream Vision, we treat our clients like family. The communication between us and our clients are at an A-Plus rating. We listen to our clients’ needs and wants. After which, we bring their dream and vision to light.
We also officiate weddings. I am a Licensed Florida Notary.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Prior to moving to Florida, I use to travel here at least three times a year to host and coordinate events. I fell in love with Miami. In fact, I love the entire state of Florida immensely. Moving here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s a great place to operate a business and a great place to raise a family. Moving here helped my business to flourish tremendously. The weather is nice all year round and it’s the cultural melting pot. I’ve met and done business with people from different parts of the world. Moreover, I can work from the beach, the pool, the park, etc. Great Place Indeed!
