Today we’d like to introduce you to Flavia Milano.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Flavia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We wanted to design and create a certified organic product that can be grown in the home or office or outside. The goal was to also promote growing herbs and vegetables that are healthy. All of the ingredients are from the USA and the product is manufactured in the US.
We designed beautiful packaging and displays and the product was shown to Target. We are now in our 4th year in all Target stores and many other retailers are about to take our line in their stores.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a learning process. We were originally selling to small gift shops and were manufacturing the product in Boca Raton at a facility that uses handicapped employees. They were doing a great job but then a huge order came in from Target which was beyond their capacity. We had to quickly find a manufacturing facility that could help fulfill these orders. As a result, we moved our entire inventory across the US to Indianapolis where the product is now manufactured.

We are known for our creativity in developing new fun ways to grow flowers, herbs and vegetables. We just designed Easter Egg grow pops that are planted in the ground and the flowers grow!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have hired someone who was familiar with the retail industry.
