Community Highlights: Meet Jana Perez of kimona by JP

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jana Perez.

Hi Jana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Barcelona, Spain, and my journey began in the world of fashion and film. I started modeling at a young age, which opened the door to working with international brands and eventually led me to acting. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to be part of projects in Spain, UK, USA, I mean all over the world. including film and TV roles, editorial campaigns, and red carpet events that shaped my perspective and creative voice.

After many years in front of the camera, I felt the need to create something that was truly my own — something that could represent who I am as a woman, an artist, and now a founder. That desire led me to launch Kimona by JP, a fashion brand rooted in timeless Mediterranean beauty, conscious luxury, and feminine strength.

Kimona is more than just a brand, it’s an extension of my lifestyle and values. I design each collection with intention, focusing on high-quality materials (like Italian linen and silk), ethical production, and pieces that make women feel confident, sensual, and free. I recently moved to Miami to expand the brand internationally, and I’m now working on new collections, collaborations, and opening our own curated space, The House of Kimona. A showroom very creative hub and community space to support other emerging brands like kimona. the idea is to bring fashion, art. and wellness under one roof, offering visibility, connection and opportunities to independent designers and conscious brands that share a similar ethos. I want it to feel like a home for creativity, collaboration, and beautifully curated experiences.

My journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been driven by passion, discipline, and the deep belief that women can reinvent themselves over and over again, on their own terms.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth, but it’s been real, transformative, and full of growth.

Transitioning from working as an actress and model into launching my own brand has come with many challenges. In the creative world, especially as a woman, you constantly have to prove your worth, your vision, and your ability to lead. Starting Kimona from scratch meant learning everything from design and production to branding, logistics, and now business development. It’s been incredibly fulfilling, but also exhausting at times.

On a more personal level, moving countries, reinventing myself, and starting over especially in a place as dynamic as Miami has required a lot of resilience. There were moments of doubt, of financial pressure, and of navigating a new industry without a roadmap. But those moments also pushed me to grow stronger, more focused, and more connected to my purpose.

At the end of the day, every setback has been a lesson, and every challenge has helped me define the kind of business and life I truly want to build.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about kimona by JP?
Kimona by JP is a luxury fashion brand born from a desire to blend timeless Mediterranean elegance with conscious living and modern femininity. Every collection is an ode to effortless beauty, soft silhouettes, natural movement, sensual textures, and pieces that feel powerful without trying too hard.

We specialize in high-quality, limited-edition garments, made from Italian fabrics like linen, silk, and cotton. and other sustainable fabrics. Each piece is designed in Spain and produced with care in small artisan workshops, focusing on ethical practices and timeless design.

What sets us apart is the intention behind everything we do. Kimona is not just about clothes, it’s about a way of living: confident, free, connected to nature and beauty. We don’t follow fast trends. We create capsule collections with soul meant to be worn, loved, and remembered.

What I’m most proud of is how personal it all is. I direct every campaign, design every garment, and pour my heart into storytelling. We’ve shot our latest collections between Bahamas, Miami, Ibiza and Spain, capturing a sense of freedom, sensuality, and understated luxury that resonates with women around the world.

This year, I’m also launching The House of Kimona, a curated showroom and creative hub in Miami, where we’ll offer space not only for Kimona, but also for other emerging brands that share our vision. It’s a project very close to my heart and a new chapter in expanding the brand globally.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something people might not realize is just how deeply involved I am in every single detail of everything I do. Not only with my brand Kimona by JP, but across all my projects, whether it’s designing a collection, producing a campaign, or working on a film.

As a founder, entrepreneur, and designer, I direct the entire creative process behind Kimona from concept to production, styling, casting, storytelling, even the layout of the campaigns. But the same goes for my work as an actress: I prepare every role with intensity, I connect emotionally with every character, and I give my absolute everything to every scene.

I don’t do things halfway. I care deeply about energy, aesthetics, intention, and meaning and that shows up in every decision I make, from the clothes I design to the scripts I choose, to the people I collaborate with. Even though I make mistakes sometimes, I’m only human.
I’ve also learned that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of it. Sometimes I fall, I make mistakes, or things don’t go as planned. But those moments are not failures. They give me the push to grow, to reflect, and to become stronger. Each challenge teaches me something and brings me closer to the woman and creative I want to become.

There’s a lot of discipline behind the scenes, and a lot of emotional and creative investment that maybe isn’t always visible from the outside.
