Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Doman.
Hi Sandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into healthcare started with my own injury.
Years ago, I was sidelined by debilitating back pain—unable to work out, take long walks, or even comfortably get through the day. I saw top orthopedic and neurology specialists from D.C. to New York, but nothing worked long-term. It wasn’t until I committed to a regular yoga practice alongside evidence-based Western therapies that my pain finally resolved. That experience completely changed the trajectory of my life.
I went on to earn my Doctor of Chiropractic degree with honors from Palmer College in Florida, and later became a registered yoga teacher. In 2010, I opened Miami Sports Chiropractic & Yoga Center—Miami’s first physician-supervised yoga therapy center. Our clinic combines chiropractic care, posture rehab and yoga therapy (PRYT), soft tissue work, Class IV laser therapy, and lifestyle rehab to help patients eliminate pain without relying on drugs or surgery.
Since then, I’ve been honored to serve on the Board of Directors for the Florida Chiropractic Association and as a 3-year President of the Dade County Chiropractic Society. I’m adjunct faculty for National University of Health Sciences, and was the orthopedic injuries educator for all Equinox clubs in South Florida. I developed a professional training program called Dr. Doman’s Guide to Working with Injuries© to help yoga teachers safely work with musculoskeletal conditions.
Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of patients—from athletes at camps for Dwyane Wade, University of Miami, and Shaquille O’Neal, to the professional jockeys at Gulfstream Park.
I also take an athlete’s approach to postpartum rehab—helping mothers return to strength and function without skipping over the critical rebuilding phase. As a grateful mom of two incredible kids, Sage (8) and Beau (4), I know firsthand how demanding motherhood can be on the body. As a mom, my own version of self-care includes horseback riding and surfing—activities that keep me grounded and joyful.
At the heart of it all, my mission is simple: to help people move smarter, heal fully, and live pain-free. Because healing isn’t just what happens in the treatment room—it’s how we live the other 23 hours of the day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not! But I wouldn’t change a thing.
Like most meaningful things in life, building my practice and career hasn’t been a straight line. One of the biggest challenges early on was introducing a new model of care—combining yoga therapy with chiropractic, laser therapy, and lifestyle rehab—at a time when very few people were talking about integrated, drug-free solutions for orthopedic pain. I had to earn trust and educate both patients and other healthcare providers on why this multi-disciplinary approach works.
My top priority has always been to be a devoted and available mom—but contributing to the health and well-being of the greater community has been deeply fulfilling. I’ve learned to build a life that honors both: raising my children with intention while also making a meaningful impact through my work.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but every obstacle helped shape the mission-driven practice I run today. I’ve learned that when your purpose is clear, you figure out how to keep going—even when the path is uphill.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We help athletes and moms get out of pain and stay out of pain.
We’re proud to be Miami’s first physician-supervised yoga therapy center, where yoga isn’t just exercise—it’s a clinical tool we use to help people heal better and move smarter.
We focus on athletes, moms (especially pre- and postnatal), and anyone who’s tried other treatments but hasn’t gotten lasting relief. What makes us different is our 360 approach: we combine chiropractic, yoga therapy, posture work, Class IV laser, and hands-on care to treat the whole person.
I’m especially proud of the unique protocol we’ve developed for all flavors of low back pain, jaw pain and TMJ issues—it works when most other things don’t. We also have a second location at Gulfstream Park, where we treat professional jockeys, and I’ve worked with athletes at the NFL, NBA and NCAA-level.
Our brand is all about smart, movement-based care in a calm, concierge setting. We take our time, we listen, and we teach you how to take care of your body for the long haul.
If you’ve been told to “just live with it,” we’re here to prove that you don’t have to.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One of the things I love most about Miami is the cultural mix. On any given day, I might speak Spanish with patients from Colombia, Argentina, or Venezuela… then switch to French or Italian with someone visiting from Europe. I love that diversity.
What I like least? Definitely the traffic. Sitting on Biscayne near Aventura Mall is not my idea of fun. Luckily, the palm trees and sunshine usually make up for it.
