Today we’d like to introduce you to Quincy Hytko.
Hi Quincy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am from Upstate New York and would definitely categorize myself as an East Coast girl. I am super close with my family who all live super close to me in New York. My brother attended the University of Miami and that was a big deal for me and my town because usually most people stay close to home for college. I ended up following in his foot steps and I am so glad I did. I am now at the U and approaching my senior year, graduating early, majoring in Advertising Management and minoring in Marketing and Social Media. I am truly inspired by the world we live in today with so many businesses using social media as their main source of advertising and one day I hope to build a brand I am proud of!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As I mentioned earlier, I am super close with my family. Moving away for college was not an easy adjustment. Initially, I was home sick but after a few days UM felt like a true home to me. Moving back to school after a few months at home is never easy either but I have found wonderful friends who feel just like an extension of my family.
Choosing a major was also not an easy task. I had many different interests so deciding on the School of Communication was not easy. I am not sure what really sparked me to choose my major but I am so happy I landed on Advertising Management because I have learned invaluable information and have been surrounded by such creative individuals, allowing me to build lifelong connections.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As of right now, I am a student at the University of Miami and focus on social media outside of academics. I am apart of a few clubs and organizations where I work on the Instagram or TikTok accounts. Personally for my own account, my content focuses on “Day in the Life” styled videos and content in the fashion realm. I have been lucky enough to have a few partnerships and have created ad content for notable brands. I look forward to continuing and growing my community on my social media accounts! I am super proud of the hard work I have put in so far and hope to see more success in the near future.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I think the most important lesson that I have learned along my journey is to truly just be yourself! I am most definitely my harshest critique and overthink EVERYTHING – but once I understood that people will like me for me it helped me a lot.
