Today we’d like to introduce you to Dannielle Vizzini.
Hi Dannielle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a third-generation hairstylist—both of my parents did hair, and my grandmother on my father’s side did as well. My parents actually met because my mom worked in my dad’s salon. She specialized in cutting and styling, and he was known for his expertise in color. I grew up in the salon, working alongside them until my dad retired at 75.
After he retired, I started searching for a new salon home but quickly realized that none of the salons in my area offered fair employment. I couldn’t find a space that paid stylists as W-2 employees or offered benefits like paid time off, retirement plans, or health insurance. So, I created Hair by Dannielle & Co. with the mission of breaking the glass ceiling in the beauty industry—offering stylists the kind of security and support other industries take for granted.
Behind the chair, what motivates me most is helping people feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. I specialize in extensions for fine and thinning hair, and there’s nothing more rewarding than watching a new client cry happy tears because, for the first time, they truly love the way they look. That feeling is why I do what I do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. The beauty industry is incredibly saturated with education, but when it comes to hair extensions—my specialty—it’s still very much the wild west. There’s no real regulation or standard, which makes it tough to find solid, trustworthy education. Most certifications are “look and learn” formats, where you just sit and observe without any hands-on experience or client interaction. That’s not nearly enough, especially since extensions can cause serious damage if they’re not applied or maintained correctly.
These classes can cost hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars, and many stylists walk away with more questions than answers. In the beginning, finding the right training and mentorship was my biggest challenge. I was even told that I’d never become the kind of stylist I aspired to be.
Luckily, I’m stubborn—with a little rebellious streak—and I used that as fuel. I was determined to prove the doubters wrong, to soak up every bit of knowledge I could, and to become not just good, but exceptional at what I do.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in empowering people to see the best version of themselves—not just for special occasions, but in their everyday lives. My work focuses on luxury hair extension services that are fully customized to each individual client. While I’m certified in multiple methods and brands, my go-to is Great Lengths USA thermal and cold fusion strand-by-strand extensions. These are tailored to blend seamlessly with your natural hair and density, often helping to protect and even promote natural hair growth while they’re worn.
What I’m most proud of is the high level of precision and care I bring to every service. My goal is to help clients feel as good as they look—without causing damage or discomfort. Some of my favorite moments are when clients cry happy tears because they finally feel like the most confident version of themselves.
What sets me apart is my commitment to growth and integrity. I compete only with myself and believe the beauty industry should be a place of collaboration, not competition. At Hair by Dannielle & Co., every client is welcomed into a safe, inclusive, and uplifting space where they can feel truly seen and celebrated.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that doing the right thing isn’t always the easiest path, but it’s always worth it. When I decided to open my salon, I knew I wanted to do things differently—pay my team fairly as W-2 employees, offer benefits, and create a supportive, luxury environment for both clients and stylists. There were times when it would have been easier or more profitable to cut corners, but staying true to my values has built a brand I’m proud of.
I’ve also learned that growth comes from being open—to feedback, to evolution, and to learning something new every day. Whether it’s refining a technique or finding a better way to support my team, I’ve found that success in this industry is about consistency, passion, and never losing sight of your “why.”
