Today we’d like to introduce you to The People Who
Hi The People, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We (Zeke and Marcos) met at the end of 2020 and quickly became best friends. We started playing together for the next year writing songs until finally playing our first shows in early 2022. Over the next couple years, we played multiple shows all over South Florida with countless bands from different scenes. After tightening up our sound and our songs, we finally recorded and released our debut album, “Humble & Fierce” in November 2024. While we continuously incorporate different sounds and influences in our music, our love of catchy hooks and grooves always finds its way in our songs.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely not been smooth. Countless shows to almost no one, many different bass players, friends coming and going have been a few of the hardships along the way. The feeling of “what does this all really mean” enters our psyche almost daily. While our love of music and making art always shines through, the road can be treacherous and unforgiving.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We strive to make music that is unique and memorable but still able to dance to. Our album, “Humble & Fierce”, is our first album and it has our favorite songs sounding the way they were meant to be heard. While we like to consider our songs “pop”, we bring an unmatchable energy to our sound that sets us apart from others in the local scene.
How do you think about luck?
We don’t consider ourselves unlucky, meeting everyone that we’ve come to know has been a never ending surprise with all the characters we’ve come across and stories that we have accumulated over the years. We are extremely lucky to have met each other since our musical tastes align and we get along pretty well. After exploring the local scene for the last few years, we’’ve seen how difficult it is to find other musicians that share an artistic vison. While it isn’t always easy, our aligning musical vision is the catalyst for all of our artistic projects.
