Inspiring Conversations with Chloe Peña of Day Of Socials

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Peña

Hi Chloe, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Sheesh it feels like such a loaded question. Well, for some basics— My name is Chloe, I’m 33 years old , the youngest of three siblings & born into a big family of Cuban immigrants. Much of my childhood was spent on a tiny island in the Bahamas but I’m a Miami girl through & through. I lived in Miami Beach for the first chunk of my life, then Kendall, Westchester, the Gables, South Miami… I just laugh and say “I was raised beneath the shade of una Palma”.

As a kid, I was incredibly curious & wanted to try everything. I wanted to be a cheerleader, but I was also wanted to be in band… so I did both. One moment, I’d be trekking through swamps in the everglades or lobstering with my family & the next I’d be completely absorbed in my Barbies. I’ve always been someone who wanted to experience everything.. I was just like, down for whatever! My love for music was and still is a perfect example. I listened to ALL types of music & I never ever everrrrr skipped a song on an album because, for me, music was about understanding the entire body of work. I wanted to, like, feel what the artist was saying, to see the world through their eyes. It was ALWAYS a running joke with my friends growing up they would be so annoyed haha! They’d be like—“it’s just Britney Spears, Chloe”—and yes, lol, they were totally right it’s not that deep but also it was sooo deep to me! In my little brain I got to CONNECT with whoever the artist was even if it was a fun dancing song with no deep meaning, you know? Little Chloe knows haha. That fascination with stepping into someone else’s shoes has stayed with me. Listening to a song on repeat to hear all of the individual instruments & voices & elements that come together to make a song, visualizing it all… it’s still my favorite thing to do. I’m still that kid & it plays into every part of my life.

As I got older, this made my career path, well… interesting. This curiosity & love for learning led me to jump from job to job, industry to industry & while most saw it as inconsistency I saw it as LIFE! Don’t even ask me how many industries I’ve worked in… you probably wouldn’t even believe me! I just wanted to soak up every experience I could you know? As cliche as it sounds… each role taught me something new & brought me to my right now as the CEO & Founder of Day Of Socials. Looking back, I can see every twist and turn led me exactly where I’m meant to be. The way that I capture/produce content, edit videos, visualize the brand of my clients— it’s the same way I broke down music as a kid! I love that a lot, so full circle.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
SO far from smooth haha. I mean if we’re just talking career— when I started Day Of Socials, I had a whopping $7 in my bank account. I was used to having financial fluctuations since I bounced around industries so much but mannn that was a pretty low point for me. I felt like I had no choice but to make this work. It had also been a dream in my heart for SO long so it was now or never type of moment. Specifically, something that was daunting for me was that it was my first solo venture. I was FREAKING out because I tried to bring a few people on board and they all declined. Looking back, it’s SO very obvious— this was meant to be my own journey, a testament to my faith in God and the vision He gave me. Starting from “nothing” & working through challenges was tough, but it shaped & (continues to) strengthen me.

With that being said, I definitely want to say that although I did the work alone that doesn’t mean I didn’t have a few incredible humans around me. Shout out to my mom & sister for listening to me rant endlessly on new ideas & sticking through all my phases. Oh & Mills Bender of Mills Knows Bills?! Without her, Day Of Socials practically doesn’t exist. She sat with me & helped me make my first packages, linked me with the right people, was the first person to hire me, helped me with goals… to this day she’s been such a great client, employer, unofficial business coach, CFO & most importantly, friend. I’m beyond blessed to have her in my life & the small circle that I have.

As you know, we’re big fans of Day Of Socials. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Day Of Socials is all about capturing the heart of moments & businesses in the most authentic way possible. We specialize in iPhone videography because we believe in showcasing the beauty of what’s possible with a tool that’s accessible & powerful. iPhones have been used to create incredible commercials, music videos, movies—creativity & storytelling always take center stage. We focus on effortless content creation for brands and life’s biggest moments. Our goal is simple: we want people to live in the moment while we take care of capturing it for them. Business owners can focus on their zone of genius, the party host can be present & everyone gets to put their phone down for a moment. No matter who or what we’re capturing, our team makes sure everything feels real and true to who the heart of the story.

What I’m most proud of is how we’ve stayed true to our mission. There’s soooo much pressure in this industry to chase trends or make things go viral— & if that happens, COOL! But that’s truly not what this team is chasing. For businesses, we’re here to help clients tell their story in a way that feels genuine & impactful. This is what’s going to connect them with their potential clients anyways! It’s like… would you rather have 20k followers with 20 sales or 20 followers with $20k in sales… exactly lol. For personal events, we’re going to make sure that every moment is captured so you can relive it over & over again. By the time we leave the event, our clients have an album FULL of raw videos. Then within 24hrs we’ll deliver the most detailed “mini movie” as we like to call them. Every reel we create is crafted with so much intention. I think that’s what makes us stand out—we care about the story A LOT.

On another note, we went from $7 to 6 Figures in 2 years *happy dance*. I know that’s a lot to some people & nothing to others, but we did it in such a safe, productive & scalable way. If we were fully focused on numbers then we could have hit that number sooner but it’s BECAUSE of our mission that we actually capped ourselves multiple times throughout the years. Sounds a little nuts but I did it to ensure we had the right systems in place & our clients were getting the attention they needed. I’m SO proud of our team for being flexible, fun, creative, GRITTY (insert all the best adjectives)!!!!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
In my day-to-day, I rely on practical tools like Google Calendar—I schedule EVERYTHING from meetings to personal tasks like picking up my niece & nephews from school. My executive assistant is SO key! Clar helps me stay organized & on top of everything. We use HoneyBook for client management, sticky notes on my MacBook, Loom, Zoom, & oh my goodness.. we just started using Brain Toss! That app is an absolute game changer. Even though I work in a digital world, I loveeee me some pen & paper. If I don’t jot things down before transferring them to all the apps then it’s like it never happened.

Recently I was invited to join a private business group on Facebook, Real Business Owners & honestly it’s been SO great to connect with the geniuses in there! While in this season I’m not a big reader of business books or a podcasts, I love watching interviews with big time entrepreneurs on YouTube. Hearing about their journeys and picking up golden nuggets of advice keeps me motivated and helps me stay connected to my own vision.

But above all & just straight up, my primary source of guidance is Jesus. The Bible is central to my life. Yes it’s a source of business & moral advice (which there’s sooo much business advice in there it’s incredible), but it’s part of a much much deeper, personal relationship. I trust Him to lead me, and that trust flows into how I approach business, life, and every decision I make. It all goes back to Him.
