Hidden Gems: Meet Deborah Wecselman of WECSELMAN DESIGN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deborah Wecselman

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Lima, Peru, a place that still fills my mind with inspiration and color. After earning my BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York, I started my career at Ralph Lauren, where I spent twelve amazing years, eventually becoming the Senior Director of International Store Design. I had the privilege of being part of the team that shaped the design for over 5,000 RL flagship stores and shops worldwide—an experience that transformed my understanding of storytelling through spaces. My passion for creating unique, sophisticated interiors ultimately brought me to Miami, where I founded WECSELMAN DESIGN.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I began 24 years ago at Ralph Lauren—a renowned brand with vast resources—every challenge and mistake became an invaluable learning curve, teaching me accountability, resilience, and the importance of earning trust. Transitioning to build my own firm, there was no paved path. Yet, with the belief and opportunities extended by those who supported me, along with a lot of hard work and determination, I was able to forge ahead, growing my business step by step into what it is today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about WECSELMAN DESIGN?
Translating a client’s vision into a design that reflects the spirit of each space is no easy feat, but it’s a challenge I embrace. I believe a well-designed space is more than just a setting; it’s a lifestyle that adapts to evolving needs and ways of living. For me, inspiration and imagination are the heart of good design, but great design also celebrates real life. Knowing these ideas will endure, I consider the timelessness of every detail.

From waterfront homes to high-rise apartments, our team strives to create residences that capture the culture and personality of our clients. With a deep passion for design, we bring thoughtfulness, charisma, and years of experience into each project, translating style into spaces that feel as covetable as they are unique.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending endless days on the beaches of Lima, Peru. I loved watching the sun set over the Pacific, and feeling the salt in the air and on my skin. Those moments were pure joy.
