Rising Stars: Meet Beatrice Zuluaga of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beatrice Zuluaga

Hi Beatrice , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
With over thirty years of experience as a plastic surgery consultant, I have had the privilege of owning and managing premier plastic surgery centers. This journey has equipped me with extensive knowledge and invaluable experience that I bring to both the practice and the patients we serve.

Maintaining a high-performing plastic surgery practice or surgery center is a considerable challenge. It involves navigating numerous variables, including the recruitment, training, and alignment of staff to ensure a unified vision and high standards of care.

For the past seven years, I have dedicated my efforts to working closely with a particular surgeon, Dr Dev Vibhakar, marking this period as the most fulfilling of my career. Together, we have unintentionally carved a niche in the realm of breast and buttock implant removal, earning recognition as a natural plastic surgery practice. Our approach emphasizes the reversal of traditional plastic surgery concepts; we do not support the use of breast implants, opting instead to enhance using natural fat through fat grafting.

Having undergone implant removal myself, I possess a unique perspective that allows me to empathize with patients facing similar decisions. My firsthand experience serves as a powerful testament to Dr. Dev’s expertise, providing me with significant insights into both the surgical process and the byproduct of such.

I find profound joy in assisting women who are experiencing potential side effects from implants. Witnessing the transformative impact we have on their lives—and, by extension, their families and relationships—is incredibly rewarding. It is equally important to me to dissuade women from pursuing this route in the first place.

I strive to inspire young women who seek my guidance to embrace their bodies and redirect their focus toward various aspects of their lives. While maintaining an awareness of personal appearance is essential, I believe that self-acceptance is crucial. The pressure to conform to certain standards can be overwhelming for young women.

My role in this field is deeply fulfilling, and I am grateful for the opportunity to enact positive change and influence lives for the better.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The path to success is rarely devoid of challenges. Navigating the diverse personalities within management can be quite difficult, often leading to the formation of adversarial relationships as one advances in their career. While this may be an unavoidable aspect of growth, I take pride in recognizing the promising individuals I have mentored and assisted on their journeys. Many of these connections have remained strong even after they have pursued new opportunities.

In addition, ensuring that patients feel satisfied and well-informed can also present significant challenges. In today’s digital age, the sheer volume of information available can be overwhelming and intimidating for patients, highlighting the importance of our role in providing clarity and support.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional consultant in the field of plastic surgery and have managed various practices within this domain. I take great pride in my ability to select the surgeons I collaborate with, as I believe in providing genuine and transparent care to patients. It is crucial for me to work alongside individuals whose skills I trust implicitly—surgeons whom I would confidently choose for myself or my family. If I lack faith in a surgeon’s abilities, I cannot, in good conscience, represent them.

This conviction was solidified many years ago when, just two months into a project with a particular surgeon, I made the decision to part ways. I found that I could not align with his approach to patient care and determined that I would not invest any further time or energy into the practice.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I do not hold the belief in bad luck; instead, I recognize the influence of karma. Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to experience only the best in both luck and karma, leaving me with a deep sense of gratitude. Both personally and professionally.
