Meet Deborah San Antonio of Wolfe CPA & Advisors in Fort Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deborah San Antonio.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved from Puerto Rico to Florida in 2006. I lived and worked in Boca Raton, Miami and Fort Lauderdale. When I moved to Florida my job included traveling 90% of the time (domestically and Internationally) for two years, so I did not have time to socialize or network locally. Over the years, I have accomplished many achievements as a CPA Accounting/Finance professional. Working in the corporate world, I gained more than 15 years of international and domestic experience on a variety of business models and small/mid-size to billion-dollar companies and expertise in bookkeeping, accounting, internal controls, process improvement, financial analysis, risk management, taxes and audit.

Throughout my career, I have held positions as director, senior auditor and associate with multinational companies – Tyco International – and US big four accounting firms – PwC and KPMG. These companies encouraged great interaction with a diverse portfolio of clients from different cultures and countries (i.e. Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, North America). I have overseen engagements that included financial statement audits, internal audits in the US and multiple international countries, business analysis and complex analytical procedures (which included revenues totaling over 6 billion USD) to support the achievement of revenue growth and cost savings. Strategic responsibilities included the involvement in all aspects of process risk, including due diligence and fraud prevention. Compliance responsibilities included corporate governance and the management of internal audit program, reinforce compliance with policies, laws, regulations and US GAAP.

On June 1, 2015, my life changed. I am a mother. I am a professional and a mother with a different perspective about family, time and my professional career. My feelings did not let me leave my baby in a daycare so I resigned my job (of 5 years) in Miami to take care of my daughter. I started my business as a sole proprietor in January 2016 – working from home and taking care of my baby at the same time (I used to call myself mompreneur). I created my website and I started doing a lot of research about work-from-home, stay-at-home moms, advertising, affiliate marketing, virtual jobs, etc. It was a lot of research and work. I always believe that if you really want it, you can accomplish it with work and effort.

During 2016, I relocated to Delaware while I was almost due to deliver my second child. I stayed working from home and taking care of two babies at the same time. I worked virtually with clients from different locations (i.e. Texas, California, Chicago, Philadelphia). It was very difficult trying to do everything and allocate my time properly – to work and take care of my babies. Thank God and my husband was a great help. Time management is a very important skill.

On May of 2017, I registered my business in Florida as Wolfe CPA & Advisors, LLC. I continued working from Delaware but then relocated back to Florida during 2017 (the Sunshine State… cold weather is not for me) and enrolled my children in school. Now, I invest in my education (training) and I am focusing on growing my Accounting practice locally and virtually.

As a business owner of Wolfe CPA & Advisors, LLC, I am committed to helping clients achieve their business goals by providing the highest standards in performing quality services with integrity.
