Today we’d like to introduce you to The Dj Car
Hi The DJ Car, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
So my name is LeBaron aka The DJ Car and I was born in 1994 by my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chrysler. It was an incredible time in the 90’s and since I’m a convertible, having my top back and feeling the wind through my interior was always something I looked forward to. Eventually I got a little older and was purchased by an older lady who didn’t like putting my convertible top back much, or go anywhere fun – or even drive much at all. My life became very boring..
But it all changed when I was purchased by a big producer named Draydelin Miami, Florida back in 2014. I’m pretty sure I was only worth like $500 at the time, but I really liked this guy and he had great energy so I decided to see where he would take me. He began fixing me in 2015 from all the years I was just sitting around doing nothing, and randomly removed my backseat – which was super weird, but okay. Then he installed a entire DJ set up with mixers and equalizers and wireless microphones. I was very confused on what he was doing, but I figured since I knew he was a good guy, and I really liked him, that he had my best interest at heart. He began welding some new metal on my floorboards and it was very confusing because I had never experienced anything like this before. I eventually realized that we were going to become a mobile DJ car and party experience, all from out of the back seat.
I always loved music and knew that I was meant for great things that were much bigger than just myself. In 2016, we started touring and immediately received a ton of attention. All the people who saw us were taking videos and photos and everyone always had their phone out, smiling, laughing and dancing. Draydel continued to replace parts with better ones and fix me and solve any issues that I started having. He even changed my paint color and added multicolored lighting, swapped out speakers, and added even more speakers, I thought I knew him very well at this point, but as he continued to build me and create new things, It was then I realized that he was much smarter than I originally thought.
We eventually ended up traveling thousands of miles in 2017 and 2018 throughout the United States, stopping in different cities and colleges throughout Florida. We stopped at all of the universities in FL and cities like Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Gainesville, Tallahassee, and Atlanta, but we eventually stopped in Nashville, Tennessee – and that’s when my life got super crazy. We started performing on the streets, and on Broadway and all of the people in Nashville would go crazy and dance and jump around and scream. It made me feel like I was famous. After Nashville, which we spent a few years in, we went back down to South Florida and Miami, where he changed my paint color again, took out some, electronic equipment, and added some new musical equipment like fog machines and new lighting and better speakers so everything sounded incredible.
We started showcasing at different events like the American Airlines Arena, which is now called the Kaseya Center where the Miami Heat basketball team plays and where famous musicians have concerts at. We continued growing and doing more shows like art galleries, festivals, and corporate events and even started hosting and collaborating with a bunch of local artists who all had incredible energy and amazing music. This is when my name was changed and I was officially known as “The DJ Car”. All of this led to a collaboration and performance with a local Brazilian DJ named Lucca Savi, which went super viral on social media and we ended up being seen by over 6 million people! This led us to get featured on national television and develop partnerships with international global brands.
My life has been insane and I never could’ve imagined that this would’ve been the path meant for me. I was just a little old 94′ Chrysler convertible owned by an older lady who always went to the grocery store but now I am a legend in Miami and known by millions and millions of people. I’m now a platform to help creatives and new artists launch their careers. I never even thought I would be having an interview like this.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Haha that’s pretty funny, “smooth road“. Yeah, the road is never smooth – as much as everyone thinks or that everyone sees. It might look like a smooth road, but there’s tons of bumps no one else sees, and it really rattles me.
But some of the struggles along the way were difficulties trying to figure out how my batteries and power system can support the amount of electricity needed to power all of the audio equipment. Draydel almost killed himself and blew us up when trying to figure out how to connect a bunch of new power sources and batteries inside of me. It’s been a learning curve the entire way as it’s all happening. We are both learning how to adapt and figure out how to make it work along the way, literally every day. He has always been very resilient and persistent with figuring out solutions to any problems that come up, so I was never worried.
But there was one time back in 2015. I just didn’t feel well and knew something was wrong, but we both didn’t know what the issue could be. I was constantly blowing white smoke out of my exhaust and running very rough. So we eventually went to the doctor and the Dr. Mechanic told us that I blew a head gasket, so we had to take apart my entire engine and rebuild it from scratch. It was a very long, pricey and painful process for both of us, but these are things that people don’t know about and struggles that we had to overcome in order to reach the success that we have now, over the last 10 years.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m now a one-of-a-kind mobile DJ booth, but more so, a mobile interactive experience for all ages. Success is when preparation meets opportunity and all I will say is that Draydel has been preparing us for over 10 years to get to the success we’re at now. It all comes down to knowing what you want and having a relentless drive and passion to get there. There will be road blocks lol but because of your love and passion, you will always overcome them and the result will always be success and happiness. You just have to not give up.
