Today, we’d like to introduce you to Reneil Henry.
Hi Reneil, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love of art started early at a young age on the island of Jamaica, where I was born and raised. My passion for creating art truly started in high school, where I would take AP Art classes.
It wasn’t too long after high school I started working in art galleries and museums then one day I got the courage and opportunity to open my own art business.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some of the struggles that I face are sourcing through to find the right clients, saying no to the things I love, like hanging out with friends, sticking to my values and morals, and, more importantly, mental health. I try to read a good book so my mind stays sharp.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a visual fine art muralist. I specialize in oil painting and different mediums like spray paint and acrylic, but oil painting was my first love. I am known for my oil painting texture and controversial art sketches.
One of the works that I’m extremely proud of is his painting for Lincoln Hospital in South Bronx, New York. I believe what sets me apart from different artists is my style of painting, with oil and hand-painted murals.
Any big plans?
One of the biggest plans I’m working on currently is scaling the business so I can bring on more artists to help me paint and help them get more business as well.
