Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Cufre and Agustina Fernandez.
Hi Victoria and Agustina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
We are Agus and Vicky, Argentinians based in Miami and the founders of Mico Design Studio. We started this interior design firm back in 2017, shortly after meeting each other and realizing our shared passion for architecture and design. Since then, we have worked with numerous high-profile clients on commercial projects, primarily in Florida. To date, we have completed over 45 projects ranging from restaurants and cafes to retail stores, offices, and beauty salons.
Launching a business abroad was a big challenge, but also an opportunity to encourage ourselves to pursue our dreams and grow professionally and personally. We were first neighbors, then friends and partners. Mico Design Studio is the result of our friendship, where trust and mutual support are essential. Our strength as a team comes from having navigated through many similar situations at the same time, such as adjusting to living in a foreign country and becoming first-time mothers. Both of us had our kids while Mico Design Studio was expanding, and we experienced the importance of balancing work and family life.
In addition to complementing each other’s knowledge and skills, we have fun and make every task a creative process in which original ideas and approaches always emerge. There is nothing better than combining our passion for interior design with the joy of working with a friend. We believe that this is reflected in the quality of our ideas and our client’s satisfaction.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It wasn’t easy at all. We began our journey in interior design with small projects, some of which were even done at no cost, just to build our portfolio and gain experience.
We put in tremendous effort and dedication to reach the point where we are today in a highly competitive market. Our initial focus was on residential design, but we eventually decided to transition into the commercial sector, drawn by the prospects of a more creatively stimulating environment.
However, our path has not been without its challenges. The struggles we faced were numerous and diverse. One major hurdle was establishing a solid reputation in a field where trust and credibility are paramount. Building a client base and convincing them to entrust us with their design needs required persistent effort and patience.
We are now very proud of what we created, the projects we have been part of, and our amazing team!

Mico Design Studio is an interior design and execution firm based in Miami, founded by Agustina Fernández and Victoria Cufré.
With a focus on the finest details and a constant search for innovation, Mico Design Studio offers comprehensive support from the initial concept to the completion of our client’s goals. We create projects from scratch and restyle spaces, partnering with leading contractors and manufacturers to make critical structural decisions regarding flooring, lighting, architecture, and finishing details.
Since 2017, we have worked with a wide range of high-profile clients, mainly in hospitality and retail projects throughout Florida.
Some of our projects include important and awarded restaurants in Miami such as Paperfish, Oldays, Sushimas, Jatto, the iconic News Cafe in South Beach, the famous Spanish chocolate shop San Gines, and Cafe Americano, among others. Many more exciting projects are in progress!
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
When we started, the biggest risk was, on the one hand, leaving our comfort zone in dependent jobs and venturing to create a project together. We had to choose to bet on something uncertain, being young, in a new country.
We had to work very hard to show our services, and capabilities and position ourselves enough to start getting new clients. We worked on many projects with all our effort to achieve the respect and seriousness that we have now reached, which is why companies, brands, and large clients choose to trust us today.
