I am Jodelle Duverseau, originally from Haiti. Eight years ago, I embarked on a courageous journey to explore my body through the realm of Nude Art. At the time, I was a 25-year-old with dreams of becoming a muse, seeking to unravel the depths of self-love and connection with my own physical form.
Motivated by my love for writing erotic narratives, I longed for a way to embody the essence of these stories to forge a deeper connection with my own body. That’s when I created the persona of Femme Du Soir, an art muse… This pivotal choice marked the start of an extraordinary journey, where I could breathe life into my creative vision and explore the realms of sensuality.
My life drastically changed. In 2016, I quit my job and chose a different path, seeking a life of freedom, art, and excitement. At that time, I lived in New York and I remember how amazing and liberating that summer was. I was filled with a passion and joy for life, only a true dream can offer. I reached out to art schools and artists in New York, asking if I could pose as a muse for them. I got opportunities to work at famous art schools and museums in the city, where I posed for private sessions and live art shows in Manhattan.
Working with different artists, such as sculptors, painters, and photographers, boosted my confidence and allowed me to pursue my passion for Sensual Art. Through my work, I started inspiring both women and men to explore their natural beauty and tap into their sensual power. I documented behind-the-scenes photos and created exclusive content for those who subscribed to my platform.
In 2018, my early experiences in the art world ignited a profound passion within me to become a sensual creator. It was during this transformative period that I took the leap and officially formed Femme Du Soir as an LLC, allowing me to showcase and sell my artwork and merchandise. As my artistic journey unfolded, my focus gradually shifted towards embracing sensuality and infusing elements of eroticism into my creations, aiming to captivate my viewers.
Many people celebrated me for my artistic views and the uniqueness of my art. Throughout my journey, my art consistently held a purpose close to my heart: to promote sensual creative expression, demystify the realm of sensual art, celebrate the beauty of the female body through artistic representation, and utilize it as a powerful tool for expressing and embodying sensuality in all its forms.
While some people found this art controversial, I used it to express something different. I wanted to show that women should not be limited by societal taboos. My goal was to inspire women to confidently express their desires, experiences, and emotions without shame or judgment. By embracing sensuality women can live life on their own terms, free from cultural taboos and stereotypes.
Femme Du Soir LLC has transformed into a thriving hub dedicated to embracing and celebrating sensuality. Our primary objective is to inspire individuals to wholeheartedly embrace sensuality and revel in a lifestyle that cherishes it. We provide comprehensive education and coaching services for sensual creators, guiding them in their artistic endeavors. In addition, we curate a diverse range of products, services, and content that promote sensual self-care and wellness.
We aspire to become a renowned company known for our commitment to helping people understand and appreciate the importance of sensual wellness. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Although my journey in the sensual world may have seemed like a dream, it was not without its fair share of adversities and obstacles. Coming from Haiti, a culture with deeply ingrained taboos surrounding sensuality and sexuality, lead to judgment, stigma, and numerous backlash for taking a leading role in this field.
Misconceptions about my intentions and mission hinder my relationship with close family and friends. Suddenly my values were being questioned. Many individuals were bound by societal norms and religious beliefs that prevented them from truly understanding the purpose behind my work. I encountered people who were sexually repressed and employed misogynistic and patriarchal methods to suppress my growth and expression.
Moreover, I frequently encountered censorship or content restrictions on various platforms. These limitations have impeded my ability to showcase my work, connect with my audience, and gain visibility. The suppression of my artistic expression was frustrating and disheartening. As a result, I created my own subscription platform and used email marketing systems to stay connected with my fans.
I often faced objectification and sexualization where I was reduced to my physical appearance or perceived solely through a sexual lens, which undoubtedly overshadowed my artistic talent and creative vision. Securing financial and professional support to expand my business was also a hurdle for me, as many worry about public reception or the controversy sensual art could cause. This lack of support and the limited resources and opportunities available to me have delayed my growth and artistic development.
Because of the nature of my work, I was often misunderstood as a woman who might be lacking morals or values, at times erroneously perceived as promiscuous, reckless, or dangerous. People often labeled me as someone who lacked self-control, perhaps commitment, or who was attention-seeking and exhibitionistic, but only to later be surprised by my work ethic and character.
It felt as though I had to exert extra effort to be taken seriously and recognized for my intelligence. Many failed to comprehend that exploring sensual art and embracing a life without taboos simply meant living freely and authentically, unencumbered by societal restrictions.
Engaging in this art form did not make me reckless, irresponsible, exhibitionistic, or devoid of self-control or discipline. Quite the opposite, it has been a transformative journey that has elevated me as an individual. Through exploring my body in the realm of art, I have gained a heightened sense of self-awareness and personal growth. Taking ownership of my creations and managing my creative space has empowered me to become a better version of myself.
Assuming a leadership role has bestowed upon me a newfound confidence to advocate for a world where indulging in sensual wellness is inclusive. Throughout my journey, I have encountered numerous obstacles and adversities that have only strengthened me. These challenges have provided me with the strength to push boundaries, defy societal norms, and work towards creating a more accepting and open-minded society that embraces sensual expression and wellness for all.
