Meet Khory Fulton of Khory Fulton Photography in Pembroke Pines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khory Fulton.

Khory, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I didn’t set out to be a Photographer… it just kind of happened. I suppose it’s because when I was in high school I worked at Eckerds (now CVS) as the Assistant Manager of the photo department and absolutely loved it, or because I love learning about new technology and electronics related to digital photography. I couldn’t tell you why for sure. What I can tell you is that I really love what I do and spend a lot of time refining my craft.

I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out my “style” of photography. Style comes with time and is very difficult to force. I have come to the conclusion that more important than style is being aware of the literal nature of the image I see and striving to go beyond that in an aesthetic sense of creating a captivating image.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road for me. One of my biggest struggles has been Summer time in South Florida. During rainy season, most shoots have to be rescheduled and on the one clear day that’s when everyone wants to shoot. Other than the weather, business has been great and consistent.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Khory Fulton Photography – what should we know?
I specialize in weddings and engagements, but I will take pictures at just about any type of event.

I am most proud of my growth. When I started I just wanted some supplemental income and accomplished that rather quickly. Now I am 3 years in doing this full time and have not regretted one minute of it.

What sets me apart would have to be my attention to detail. I have a game plan every time I take my camera and certain shots that are must haves. Since 2008 I have not had any complaints.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Honesty. I have had a potential client or 2 that I have had to tell I don’t think I would be the best fit for them. Not because of personality complications, but because of my style of shooting. I could have easily just agreed with them and collected payment, but I’m not after the money. I am looking for capture memories and build relationships.
