Today we’d like to introduce you to Mina Dulce.
Hi Mina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello. My name is Mina Dulce. I began photographing since the age of 10. Throughout my early childhood, I thrived and fell in love with the art world. I began drawing, creating sculptures, and mixed media at age 5. Creating a house called “Science House” which won an award at a Local Art Gallery in Tampa, Florida. As I got older, I felt inspired by my fellow friends, the world around me, my mental health, and famous artists and photographers. I began shooting landscapes, fashion, travel, macro, portraits, and fine art. I have worked alongside models, fashion designers, rappers, and artists collaborating on projects, runways, galleries, and exhibitions; in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Haifa, Israel, and Philadelphia. I have many talents and gifts that I share with the world, I make jewelry, paint murals, draw, weave, bead, sew, and write. In the last couple years, I traveled throughout four continents, where I found inspiration, worked on self-love and spreading that love and joy for creativity to many communities and new friends. My latest project is an artisan jewelry, mural, henna, and marketing business called Swamp Dragon Creations. An online and physical business, inspired by my childhood in the Florida swamps and my travels throughout the world. I am a passionate individual, who loves giving back to the community, bringing awareness to environmental issues, human rights, and spreading color and positivity. I am grateful and blessed for photography and art, and the joy and people that it has brought me near. Thank you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My photographs and art are a reflection of the ups and downs, trials and errors, as a young female artist in this world. Each series and collection is a time stamp of that period in my life. My work is unique and special to my heart, especially when working with close friends and helping people feel beautiful in their own skin. I struggled for many years and continue to this day battling with mental health. Photography and the art world have helped me stay strong and true to my character, a healthy coping skill. I am grateful to have such amazing mentors, friends, and family, who helped me stay focused and on track. I learned to respect myself, love myself, and be patient with myself. I hope to set an example for people and artists to continue to create art even though it may seem challenging and that living a healthy and fulfilling life is possible. The obstacles and blocks a person may face is inside, waiting to be overcome. I inspire and challenge others to be themselves and make art that will help shape their lives and to pass that on to others around them, uplifting and spreading the love for art and creativity to as many people as possible.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
ISOLDES WORLD by Mina Dulce is my artwork and photograph collection inspired by my perspective on the world. I am a photographer and artist specializing in fashion, fine art, travel, landscapes, and portraiture. I am most known for my raw, vulnerable, abstract, and colorful photographs. I have many skills and passions and people come to me for photographs, jewelry, or a custom mural. People seek down-to-earth images, artisan and rustic jewelry, and wild intense artwork. I am most proud of my diversity in skill sets which makes me unique and allows me to never run out of ideas. One of the highlights of my career was selling a framed print after walking from store to store in Downtown Haifa, in Israel. I spent all day trying to sell my piece. I felt so warm and loved and appreciated that another young woman wanted my piece, so I cried. Now my piece has a forever home in a foreign country. What sets me apart from others is my compassion and strong love for people, my perception of detail, eye for emotional compositions, and raw honesty inlaid within each photograph.
What makes you happy?
Smiling, laughing, and treasuring the present moment with friends, and family, surrounded by the beauty of the world makes me happy. Happiness to me is a warm feeling in my chest and my whole body, this brightness that washes throughout me. My love for photography and art has this brightening effect that flows through my body and hits my entire soul. That’s why I find it so important to pass this light to others and to continue to pass it on to my loved ones and to my community.
