Rising Stars: Meet Rogerio Araujo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rogerio Araujo.

Hi Rogerio, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Brazil and started working at 7 years old selling ice cream on streets, done it till 11 then started learning art When I was 14 I started tattooing. I had another different job to survive and tattoo on the side, weekends but not professionally. When I become a father too young(22) me my wife and the baby and up lived for several months on the streets after this experience, I had a chance to open my first tattoo shop I was 25 years old.

I grabbed that opportunity, left the streets, and become a respected artist in Cariri CE Brazil. With the money, I moved to London, Camden Town, and they’re staying for 7 years. I learned English and grew as an artist, won a few contests tattooing, and finally in 2014 was invited by the biggest ink company in the world (world famous ink to move to America and work with them) then moved to New York and stayed there between 2014 to march 2017.

When I once again saw an opportunity to move to Miami, buying a 1/3 part of an eyebrow designing shop in South Beach to turn into a tattoo shop. That was when Chapel Tattoos was born, in march of 2017 at 824 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, a dream so far impossible in my mind of an ex-homeless. After 2 years my partners decided to walk in another direction and I become the only owner.

Now it’s been 5 years, I become an American citizen, got married, and had my second daughter. 20 years after my first one( the one who experience a homeless life at a so young age ) it’s now n a 7th-degree student of the veterinarian so to be a doctor soon. I consider myself a genuine artist that gets all and changes my and all my family members’ life through artwork and today besides the Tattoo shop I am blessed with the sponsorship of world-famous ink, FK irons machines, oeak need, and recovery aftercare. What I love saying is, Never give up your dreams.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Many as living on the streets, leaving school when was 14 to become an artist, but the worst one was against me, a depression that I fought and won with my family’s help, and the normal challenge that all business person face day by day with up and down economy and season on the Beach.
