Thanks for sharing your story with us Andrea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I had been vegan for years and teaching yoga. A friend approached me to see if I would be interested in starting a cafe/ lifestyle space. With no restaurant experience I said sure!! I knew I always wanted to share my passions on a larger scale.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s all perspective!!! I don’t think owning any business is a smooth road…. especially when you are learning as you go. Staffing, sourcing, equipment… it’s all a huge learning curve.
Please tell us about Island Bee.
We offer 100% vegan and organic meals in our cafe, cold pressed juice, smoothies and bowls. We also have a market which offers eco-friendly products and Conscious Corner which is a curated space that brings local sustainable goods to the store.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Food!!! Eating with my father was always an event and that is where I captured my passion for food.
