Today we’d like to introduce you to Drea Carolina.
Drea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a Catracha (this is what you call someone from Honduras LOL) living in Miami since I was 13 years old. Have gone through so many struggles being an immigrant but it made me the person I am today. I was in my senior year of high school when I started social media as a fitness/motivational page at first. I would basically go to school, go to the gym/create content, get to work, edit at night or sometimes even hide in the bathroom at work to post. I hustled a lot, especially because I help my parents with money for rent and other things for the house. My family has always been my biggest motivation to keep going. We have gone through tough situations with my family in this country as immigrants, and I feel like those struggles shape your character in many ways. That’s why I have always been a humble person no matter what and will always continue to be.
After like a year and a half or two years of doing my fitness page I went to a modeling event in Hgab Studios called Meet your Muse because I wanted to create more and expand my social media more and start modeling as well. I had always been told since I was young that I would be a great model, so I gave it a chance. Going to that event by myself that night and I met a photographer a friend had told me about and had talked to through Instagram only so I was meeting him for the first time that day. I was very nervous but we clicked instantly and the rest was history, he became my best friend, he introduced me to a group of photographers and models he was a part of and it was amazing. Started working with all these photographers that quickly became some of my best friends now and it’s been a beautiful journey with them ever since.
Met new friends along the way and eventually started tiktok and fell in love with that as well. By this time my social media pages were mostly modeling and dancing rather than fitness. So, I kind of transitioned into modeling and tik toking. As time went by, things started kicking off more on TikTok but I got banned 1-2 along the way and it was very discouraging something I have always had in me is that I believe in myself so much that giving up would never be something that crosses my head. I started doing my public tik-toks with a very popular tik Toker that is known for his public tiktoks and learned a lot from him and went viral a lot of times and that basically grew my social media a lot both Instagram and tik tok.
I ended up getting fired from my server job starting in 2021 and I had been wanting to quit it already for a couple of months every day I would vocally manifest something would happen and I was gonna go on to better things and follow my dreams and leave that job. Well, I got fired and it was for the best because I didn’t have the balls to quit lol Before I got fired, I went viral on IG like 3 times back-to-back in December of 2020 and that grew my Instagram a lot. Everything kicked off after I got fired and it’s been such an amazing journey. I got banned from tik to 3 months later and had to start from 0 for the third time and now I grew that page in a little over a year to 406k+ followers. I have achieved so many things, and have had such great experiences and I can honestly say I am proud of myself. I still have so many goals to continue to achieve in this journey and I am very pumped for the future. Now I am learning how to DJ/produce music, this has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl and I can really say it’s my passion and it’s really what I want to do with my life. Something I would like to say to the people who read this is that we are all inspirations to someone in our way, we are all so unique. Never compare yourself to others because we all have different paths, we are in. My saying that has always been in my IG bio is “Believe. Act, & persevere because it truly is what I live by. You gotta believe you can achieve your wildest dreams but you have to know you gotta work hard and persevere even through all the troubles life will throw at you.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a content creator that does modeling and tik tocks. I do a lot of dancing in public to strangers and getting their reactions lol It can be very controversial at times but very fun and make a lot of people laugh. I am proud of all the achievements along the way, I also do social media for Club even as a social media manager, and do videos for them. I feel like what sets me apart is my dedication, determination, and my very strong belief in myself.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Life is short, live it to the fullest, do what you love, and just stay true to who you are and what you believe in.
