Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Weinbach.
Dan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
To start off, we just concluded our thirtieth anniversary year in 2017, which means we’re now in our fourth decade of business. That’s quite the feat in South Florida, where few enterprises – especially advertising and PR firms – last much longer than a suntan.
My dad, Phil Weinbach, started the agency in 1987, and I joined the company in 1994. I had been working in the movie business at Paramount Pictures after first earning my master’s degree in film producing from the University of Southern California. But I missed South Florida, and Hollywood was just as unsavory as its reputation.
Since joining the firm, we’ve dramatically grown in size and in the scope of services we provide. Today, we offer a complete “menu” of marketing services, from online advertising and social media to graphic design and public relations.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a family-owned business, our highs are higher and our lows are lower. We’ve worked hard to maintain an even client base, which can be challenging when clients secure services for a limited engagement.
We may feel the bumps more, but we’re also good at adjusting course when we need to. We’re nothing if not flexible.
The Weinbach Group – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Over more than three decades, we’ve worked with clients in many different industries. However, when people think of The Weinbach Group, they usually think of healthcare marketing. We have worked with some of the biggest companies in the healthcare space in South Florida, and we’ve won more than 100 national awards for our specialized work.
Even though we’re recognized for our healthcare marketing, that’s not our sole interest. For nearly three decades we’ve partnered with local organizations that – unlike their for-profit counterparts – rely on grants, charitable gifts, and public sector revenue. For these organizations we have effectively raised awareness about their positive impact, the value they provide to the community, and helped promote specific local programs and events.
We’ve also worked a great deal with financial services clients and even municipalities. The bottom line is, we are adaptable, savvy, and well-respected for what we do.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Each year at The Weinbach Group, we celebrate the holidays with a special party for our employees and their partners. At these yearly gatherings, I am always filled with great pride when I contemplate the quality of the people who comprise The Weinbach Group. It’s a moment that seems to repeat itself each year, and it reinforces the fact that people define great businesses.
