Today we’d like to introduce you to Francis Modina.
Hi Francis, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Francis Modina, I was born and raised in the French Alpes. I grow up in a small town named “Vinay”, my parents had a small bakery, and I am the 3rd generation of bakers in the family.
I moved to the USA in 2001, and open my business in Ft. Lauderdale 16 years ago. I have been doing farmer’s markets since then.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I always wanted to have my own business. when I came to the US, I worked as a baker in a lot of different places and bakeries, in South Florida.
My last job was the worst, night shift from 9 pm to 5 am, with bad management, so I quit and decided that it was time to work on my dream, unfortunately, I had money just to buy a small kitchen-aid mixer. I was living in a big tower in Sunny Iles.
I made 2 cakes and when to the front door and gave a piece to every single person walking in, next day, I had 2 cake orders. A month later, I was starting my first farmers market on Lincoln Road in Miami beach. I have been working my way up since then.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are specialized in French baking, from croissants to wedding cakes, bread, and a lot more.
We are located at 6322 Powerline Rd., Ft. Lauderdale 33309. You can preorder and pick it up at the store Tuesday/Sunday. We are at the Pinecrest farmers market every Sunday from 8 am to 2 pm.
