Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Vicens.
Hi Christine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been a person who goes against the odds. An adventure-seeker, a pusher of limits, and someone who isn’t complacent. I began to train MMA (mixed martial arts) at around the same time that I was in college studying architecture. With the passing years, I realized that being a woman in a male-dominated field presented a challenge, and I was ready to take on the feat. I became a general contractor and opened a construction company, Virtue Construction and Design while continuing to train and compete in the martial arts.
I now have a husband and two little boys who are very supportive and inspire me to be the best version of myself everyday. Life presents constant battles, and fighting, in the literal and hypothetical sense, is what I do everyday.
I have a wonderful team at Virtue Construction that helps me to manage the daily operations. We are able to help families and business to fulfill the visions for their homes or venues.
On a personal level, MMA keeps me focused, physically fit, and always challenged. I will actually be making my professional debut in BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) on February 19th at the Hard Rock in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
I hope to send a message to any individual, especially women and mothers, to never give up on your dreams or let the obstacles stop you from pushing forward. God gives us all desires and special talents, and we know in our hearts when we have a special calling for it. Find your passion, and when you hit a hurdle, don’t surrender. Find a way to go over it or around it… and sometimes you just need to knuckle up and punch right through it!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a woman in a male-dominated world presented its challenges. I’ve had to earn respect in both the construction industry and in the world of MMA by showing my determination and willingness to succeed and put in the work needed.
Being a mother of two little boys has also presented its challenges. I’m grateful for my husband who is supportive of my career decisions and helps me by taking care of our children while I’m training or working on my construction business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
