Meet Daniela Uribe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Uribe.

Hi Daniela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story starts from a young age, I always liked fashion and knew I wanted to become a fashion designer. The first dressed I designed was my first communion dress and it was totally different from the rest of the dresses. Then I designed my 15th birthday dress and it was very clear that fashion design was the path that I was going to take. I was never the kind of person that dreamed about working for the big companies or design houses, I always dreamed about my own brand. When I graduated high school, I had to pick between Parsons and London College of Fashion, both great schools where I had been accepted. I decided to go to London to get international experience and because London is a fashion capital known for welcoming new designers and encouraging new talent to emerge. It was in London that I got introduced to the world of footwear and it was like love at first side. Therefore, I graduated with honors from the BA in Footwear Design and Development.

I then had work experience designing at Diane von Furstenberg, Jimmy Choo and Paul Andrew, where I learned a lot and met very talented and inspiring people. However, because I knew my end goal was to start my brand, I decided to go into buying and learn that side of the industry, one that would be very important for me. So I worked as an assistant buyer of handbags at Ross Stores before taking the leap of faith, leaving NYC and going back to my parent’s place to start Daniela Uribe Design LLC.

It was not easy at all; it still isn’t but seeing your dream come to life is extremely rewarding. I went to Italy before the pandemic and I found an amazing factory and team to work with, and despite the pandemic and Italy closing I never gave up. I found ways to adjust with the times and was finally able to successfully launch in Miami with an amazing show at Le Rouge in Wynwood. Now we have done two fashion shows at the same venue, and we have had celebrities and influencers wear my shoes. I have to say that much of my success so far wouldn’t have happened without my brother Camilo who is my right hand and works with me everyday and the support of our parents.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I do not think it is possible to start a business that has a smooth road all along. There are ups and downs all the time, the important thing is to learn from every setback and keep going with a positive attitude and believing in yourself. My first struggle was during the pandemic when Italy closed, and my collection was put on hold. However, I used the time to learn how fashion was re-inventing itself and took 3d designing courses. Another one of the hardest things about this process was having to go back home and feeling like you are taking a step back rather than forward. Having a stable income and a job in NYC was comfortable and losing that to go back home was difficult. But I understood that it was a key part of the process to be able to launch my brand and that I was lucky to have a supporting family. Now I live in Miami, and I have been so thankful to this city for opening its doors to me and my brand so quickly. However, there are still many ups and downs, but I have learned to see them as lessons that make the brand stronger each day.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Daniela Uribe is deeply rooted in inclusivity. We welcome glamour and grace wherever and however it comes. Our Italian made footwear is designed for anyone ready to rock lavish, prominent shoes that re-establish the paradigms of absolute beauty and comfort.

We believe that beauty comes in all shapes and of course, sizes. For us offering extended sizing up to size 45 was not enough, instead we set out to create lasts that are designed and measured specifically to accommodate gender inclusive feet and sizing for everyone to wear and experience what true luxury feels like. Inclusivity, comfort and enchantment is not only our goal and our mission.

The secret to our comfortably designed footwear is the cushioned insole with added arch support and extra metatarsal padding to provide true, real comfort. This comes without ever sacrificing the striking and refined look of each pair of shoes we design.

Daniela Uribe has studied at the prestigious London College of Fashion Cordwainers Footwear design school and has trained with some of the biggest names in footwear in London and New York. She has harnessed her expertise, training and creativity to engineer a revolutionary footwear brand that is as comfortable as it is stylish. Toss aside your old, uncomfortable shoes and slip into some refined Italian made shoes. Daniela’s Glamourland Welcomes EVERYONE

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Designing my first communion dress with my dad. I was too young and my drawing skills were not as strong yet so I would tell my dad what I wanted and he would sketch it for me as he is very good at drawing and painting too.
