Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Guzman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Leah Guzman and my passion is art. I am a Board Certified Art Therapist and professional artist. I create mixed media paintings that resonate with the soul to inspire peace, as seen in my Blooming Collection and Soul Series. I also offer online painting classes and an online Art of Manifesting Program. My art studio is located in Artist at the Falls, in the Falls Warehouse District.
I have been teaching art and practicing art therapy for over 14 years. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio sculpture from Georgia State University and studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute. I earned a Master’s degree in Art Therapy at Florida State University and became a Board Certified Registered Art Therapist. My online business mission is to help others by connecting mind, body and soul through art and the creative process.
I am a Miami based contemporary mixed media painter. My abstract and figurative works are richly symbolic, spiritual and organic. My art pieces are held in private collections around the world, including Europe, South America, Australia and the United States. I count the Art Nouveau style and artists Alphonse Mucha and Gustav Klimt among my influences.
I draw on the mythological, biological and symbolism for inspiration and guidance. My work has been published in Spirituality and Health Magazine, Miami Midtown Magazine, Uptown Magazine, and Hyporallergic. Once a month I hold a painting class on the last Sunday of the month. This month’s class is December 31st from 2:00-4: 30 pm and it will focus on Visioning and Manifesting 2018. We will be creating Vision Boards.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have been an artist all my life. I went to art school and knew I wanted to help people through the creative process since art has always been my own savior. I moved around a lot in high school (3 different schools and states) and art was my escape.
After attaining my master’s and practicing art therapy, got married and have two beautiful children I lost myself. I wasn’t making art anymore and I was depressed. With some extreme self-care, I started my art practice and decided it was time to start putting my art into the world. I created my company, The Artful Experience five years ago.
Starting your own company can have been such an awakening for me. I am constantly learning how to meet the needs of my client and continue my practice of self-care.
The Artful Experience – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Artful Experience encompasses my contemporary art paintings and offers in person and online classes for conscious individuals who want to get connected through creativity. My paintings range from portraiture to symbolic abstracts. I work in large and small format. I do commission work and exhibit at local events around Miami.
What I am most proud of as a company is to support others through the creative process. Whether it’s doing a LIVE webinar on my facebook group Creative Soul Online Retreat, offering hands-on classes in my studio or guiding individuals who participate in my online Art of Manifesting Program.
I think honoring my own art practice, my happiness and supporting others with their creativity sets me apart from others. I really do incorporate the lessons I have learned through art therapy, spirituality and infuse it in all areas of my life.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is my happiness. I have so much abundance in my life. I am incredibly grateful for a beautiful family, a home, studio, a creative practice, my health and my list can go on and on. Success is when you love everything you have and realize you have everything you need.
