Life & Work with Don and Chaz Major

Today we’d like to introduce you to Don and Chaz Major.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are brothers Don Jr. and Chaz Major a.k.a. Chosen Soldiers we are an inspirational rap music group. Don Jr. aka “3D” born on September 29th, 2005 and Chaz aka “C4” born on August 25th, 2009 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida started rapping at the tender age of 8 and 4. It all began on July 2014 at a Youth night talent show where we performed our first song “Praise The Lord”. We heard about the talent show and was asked to be in it. At that time, we did not know exactly what we wanted to do, then we thought about and said hey we should rap. So we sat around the table with our parents and came up with a beat and lyrics. We entered the talent show and it was a blast. From there, we was asked to perform at many other different events.

Our first CD entitled “Royal Life” was released in August 2016 which includes three songs “Praise the Lord, Here I am and Royal Life”. A Cd/Video release concert was held on November 4th, 2016. The release concert was well attended and supported by many fans and many other well-known local artists. Chosen Soldiers was featured on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show airing on Impact TV reaching 75 million homes and also on “Positive TV” with Host Landlord.

In January 2019, we released our full album CD entitled “Giving It Back”. Giving it back album has a very special meaning as they believe that everyone is born with special gifts and talents. Our gift is blessing people through their music and giving back the gifts and talents that were instilled in them by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This album has upbeat tunes that are fun, exciting but deliver a strong message. We are very motivated to get the message across to everyone especially to kids and teens in our society to provide positive music to vibe to. Giving it back album has ten songs all written by Chosen Soldiers and their father. We also released a single entitled “Mama” a song dedicated to all mothers who consistently prays for a hedge of protection over their children and the youths of tomorrow.

We have several music videos which are on our youtube page and also aired in different countries like the U.K., England, 22 Caribbean Islands, South America, USA, Africa and Parts of France and Asia.

We were nominated for two International awards, Holy hip hop artist of the year and Group of the year contemporary by the S&M Gospel Indie awards which was held on July 27th, 2019 in North Carolina. Last year, we received seven nominations for the 2020 Rhythm of Gospel Awards held in Birmingham, Alabama, November 25th-29th, 2020. The “Giving It Back” Album was nominated in the following categories: Special event CD of the year, Alternative Christian Gospel CD of the Year, Holy Hip Hop/Instrumental Alternative Gospel CD of the Year, Urban Contemporary/R&P CD of the Year, International Gospel Artist of the Year, Youth/ Young Adult Artist of the Year and Rhythm of Gospel Music Video of the Year. We were very excited to say that we, Chosen Soldiers walked away with two wins. International Gospel Artist of the Year and Contemporary/ R&P CD of the Year (Giving It Back). We are very grateful for the opportunity to win such awards.

We was also nominated in April 2021 for the Bahamas Gospel Music Awards (BGMA) in the category of Hip Hop Artist of the Year. The award show was set for June 13th, 2021. We did not win but it was still a privilege to be nominated.

In February 2021, we was very honored to receive the Kingdom Building Award from Kemp Road Ministries in Nassau, Bahamas as part of the Church’s 77th Anniversary Celebrations. Due to the pandemic and social distancing protocols, We have been invited to be a part of several virtual events during the past few months.

Our goal is to continue the spread of God’s word, encouraging our youths of today seeking to build a better tomorrow. We are on fire and willing and ready to help reach the lost, heal the hurt, train the saints, build the church and Glorify God. In this day in society, we need more positive influence for our younger generation, to show and prove that young men can do the right thing.

Our hobbies include playing basketball, football, video games, riding their bikes, music, arts and crafts. We continue to work on new music and have currently completed two new singles, “Different and Cool” and “No Days Off”. They can be heard on Youtube and all major digital sites. Presently, we are working on a brand new album in which we are very excited and passionate about. Hoping our music will play a positive impact on today’s youths.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, at times, it has not been a smooth road. We rap inspirational music in which is positive and uplifting and it’s hard to push that out to society. Sometimes it’s hard because we struggle to try to get songs played on the radio or we are pushed aside for all the negative things. All on social media it seems that all the things that are not good get more exposure. We are all over social media so we see it. We try everyday to gain more followers on our Facebook, Instagram and Youtube pages. We are so very thankful for our present fans and followers now but we know our pages can grow. Also, it’s a lot of peer pressure being two teenage boys speaking positive messages to people is a challenge at times. Even now, working on a new album, we are trying to get sponsors and it’s not easy but we will keep pushing. Our parents are sticking with us all the way and they have been great supporters.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are inspirational rap artists and we try to encourage people with our music. It’s not just vibing to the beat but our lyrics all have very special meanings. We are so proud of the awards we have won and to those people who have contacted us to tell us that we really blessed them with our talents. We are set apart from others because we are young teenagers just trying to stay positive and we often encourage our friends and family who we know at times goes through a lot of hardships. We are both unique in our own special way.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
We are just trying to be ourselves and try not to be followers but leaders.
