Check Out Leonardo Teran’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leonardo Teran.

Hi Leonardo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Looking back at my childhood, I vividly remembered being five years old watching a live concert of Gloria Stefan when the drummer had a drum solo, I really felt inspired, I remember running to the kitchen and grabbing pots and pans pretending I was playing along with the musicians. It became one of my favorite games to play. The following Christmas, I was surprised with my first drum set. It was a sky blue color with all the hardware details in silver. Soon after, I started taking drum and piano lessons that when on through my school years. In high school, I played in multiply bands showcasing different styles of music Including, Jazz, Contemporary rock, Orchestra, Latin. to name a few. This exposure led me to get nominated to The Pathfinder awards. Graduating from high school and projecting on my future career, I decided to apply to Berklee College Of Music, where I studied Music Technology with a minor in Music Business. That experience opened my eyes and exposed me to a broader spectrum of what I could do within the entertainment business. I played as a touring drummer throughout the entire United States and the Caribbean, also DJ In several clubs in South Florida, Spain, and South America. In the most recent years, I developed a strong career In Music production, collaborating with new upcoming as well as well renounced artists.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There has been many obstacles and challenges throughout my career. The number one challenge is the realization that no matter how many years you have of experience and education having a career in the music business entails a nonstop ongoing effort to keep up with new trends, new technological features and long hours of practice (instruments and multiple softwares). Also, touring with bands can be really fun but at times it became exhausting and not financially remunerative. As my career grew, I believe my main struggle was building a well-rounded business persona; talent and education are needed but it is important to let upcoming artists know that building your career means building your own business and this will demand you to learn how to manage contracts, sell your products, trade and collaborate knowledge and services. To me, this aspect was a bit overwhelming but, like everything in life that is managed with passion and dedication will lead you in the right direction. I learned to take every obstacle, mistake or challenge as a learning experience and manage my anxiety to succeed to really appreciate every step of the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Music producer/Composer. I mainly specialize in EDM Music, But I also work in other genres such as rock, Latin, film scoring, cinematic music. I’m also a Music Instructor at Guitar center. I teach drums, guitar, piano, and Dj. What sets me apart would be that I produce my own music videos/promotional videos. I’m a professional drone Pilot.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We could collaborate by reaching out and working on a track together. I’m always looking for talented singers! People can support me by listening and sharing my music.
