Meet Penny Fraser

Today we’d like to introduce you to Penny Fraser.

Hi Penny, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My mission is to empower and inspire women with my photography and art. Last year during the COVID-19 lockdown, I felt isolated and took to getting dressed up and glamorous for my Selfie Sundays. I used my years of photography and art skills to create these images that showed emotion and a story. I found that I could not wait all week for Selfie Sunday! It was uplifting and I felt pretty. I decided to give that experience to other women to help boost their confidence, feel beautiful, and give them a way to escape from reality or just to celebrate themselves by having a magazine-style photoshoot.

In the summer of 2020, I started the Bombshell experience where beautiful women are transformed into Bombshells. One of my recent projects is a 40 over 40 Bombshell Series in which 40 women over 40 years old (40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and older) will be photographed in my studio in Lauderdale by the Sea, FL. In May 2022, I will have an art event in which one image from each of the 40 over 40 women will be on display along with their personal inspiring story, favorite quote, or poem. The purpose of this project is to show the community that women over 40 years old are beautiful, relevant, worthy, and have a story to tell to uplift and inspire women in the community. I just launched the second 40 over 40 Bombshell Series and I am booking sessions now. To apply click this link https://www.pennyfraserphotography.com/40-over-40-boudoir-glam-bombshell

This message of female empowerment is so strong that I left my career as an attorney to pursue this mission through my art and photography. Years of hard work developing and refining my artistic skills have manifested in attaining my dream to uplift and empower women through my creative process.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I challenge myself everyday to really get to know my clients’ aesthetic, background, and vision so that I can bring it to life. Each shoot is different. I come up with creative ideas to match each client’s personality, dream, and style. I have different props, wardrobe, accessories, and sets to make a variety of looks.

Another challenge is that women over 40 years old are sometimes invisible in society and in the media. I want to bring attention to the life shift that comes about after that age and that each woman is beautiful and valuable. Through my imagery, I want to celebrate all women, especially those over 40 years old.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in photographing women through boudoir, glamour and beauty, headshots and branding, and maternity portraiture. In addition, I create digital art pieces through composites and digital painting.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My family, especially my mother, stepfather, and sister Stacey deserve a lot of credit for always supporting my dreams. My circle of friends, including Luis Navarro who always encourages me and helped set up my photography studio in Lauderdale by the Sea, FL, Stephanie Suarez of Stephanie Suarez Boudoir who took my headshot photo and continues to inspire and support me, Truly Sieli and Emilia DiRaddio who are kind and loving women that meet me for sunrise on the beach on Sundays and inspire me everyday of the week, and Renee Jenkins, Esq. a talented attorney and my accountability partner.
