Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricardo Rodrigues.
Ricardo, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I remember drawing in the countryside of Brazil while growing up there. My passion for design started with doodles, and it came true as a professional career when I graduated in Architecture and Product Design.
I’m a quiet, low-profile professional, but I have managed to gain international prominence through my work over the years. With over 25 years of experience, I realized it was time for a change. So with my family, I moved to the United States, which happened in 2016.
I see myself as an overcomer! Found my way to succeeding through my career by founding my first company at the age of 16. I understood, after many challenges, that my business is about people and their desires. I’ve used design as a tool to care for others and bring beauty to their lives. Therefore, customers recognize me as the architect/designer who achieves the impossible, and I believe them! I do my best to meet high expectations by a commitment to the outcome. As a professional, my fingerprint remains creative, efficient, and profitable projects designed for each client.
I’ve worked hard and still am to grow in the American market; whether, in architecture or design, always reflecting my Brazilian origins. Things like comfortable living, welcoming people, and caring about people, are all common characteristics in Brazil that make my designs unique with a strong personal touch.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I established the NDT.design 25 years ago in Brazil with well-thought and distinctive Home & Kitchen products, always keeping an eye on what is the most important to my clients, keeping the characteristic of artisanal and semi-handcrafted techniques in our productions.
Through the high quality, excellent teamwork, much publicity in magazines, participation in the Brazilian design fairs and exhibitions, and some international exhibitions NDT.design has found its space in the Brazilian market, where it also won an award.
With the worldwide reach, we targeted the American market as our next goal. The path hasn’t been easy, but the last five years have taught us where it is safe to put our effort. There is unfair competition here as well as in Brazil, between authorial products and Chinese products.
We still have a long way forward, but we believe we are heading on the right path with solid partnerships, high-quality products, showing our products, and our work on important national design fairs as ICFF from 14-15 November 2021. Our products, also, have been shown at the Paris Design Week (September 9-18, 2021) at the Joseph Gallerie in Paris; and at the Milano Design Week from 4-10 September 2021 at the Super Salone. And as a result, we have happy clients!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
After an exhausting period of learning about the building codes and rules of the USA, we brought NDT Project alive. NDT Project works side by side with NDT.design.
While in the NDT.design we strive to design products that will help to create pleasant moments and long-lasting memories, contributing to enjoying the simple things in life. At NDT Project, our mission is to invite people to live and enjoy life with functional building designs that simplify modern life.
Each building project is personalized, whether residential or commercial, to fit the lifestyle and needs of people creating the right environment. Projects focus on efficient building methods, high energy performance, low energy consumption, and sustainability.
I have handpicked the NDT Project team composed of people from different countries, cultures, and religious backgrounds that share the same goal: designing and manufacturing unique projects and products for everybody. The team has a lot of experience and realized projects in many countries. Our dedication to projects, even in difficult situations, is constant. Here we are creating something for people and working together to help everyone. For us, if a project is large or small, you will always be in goods hands with our team.
