Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Knowles.
Jennifer is the creator and principal of Knowles Design, which she founded in 2005. Jennifer completed her studies at Auburn University and her formal training at Barkley International Design. After 4 years spent internationally, Knowles Design is now based in Boca Raton, Florida, and Jennifer travels to serve clients nationally.
Has it been a smooth road?
This is an exacting business. We simply strive to meet every challenge with a positive attitude and an open mind. They are teachable moments that allow us the opportunity to continue to refine our expertise and become better professionals.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Knowles Design story. Tell us more about the business.
Our focus is on the interior architecture and design of custom luxury homes. We offer a full spectrum of design services from concept development through final installation including:
Initial space planning with two and three-dimensional design concepts. Budget development, refinement, and project management. Collaboration with key partners and the preparation of detailed construction documents including plans, elevations, and specifications. Selection of overall design scheme including architectural features, finishes, fixtures, colors, materials, and paint. Sourcing and/or designing custom furniture, cabinetry, window treatments, lighting, artwork, and accessories. Ordering, tracking, inspection, delivery, and installation of all furniture, furnishings, fixtures, fabrics, and accessories. Partnering with industry professionals such as architects, contractors, and engineers.
We are passionate perfectionists. Every member of my team loves what they do, and we have fun doing it.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Buyers are looking for turn-key solutions. If they walk into a furnished house, and they love the way it looks, they’re going to buy it because it’s easier than furnishing it themselves. This phenomenon is international and is being fueled by super-wealthy buyers with multiple homes.
Developers are furnishing their properties to cater for the tastes and needs of wealthy families who desire premium furniture in their homes and the convenience of being able to move straight in after purchase. It is immediate gratification. The buyers don’t have to go through the pain and time of furnishing it themselves
This is a big part of our book of business.
