Today we’d like to introduce you to Tess Williams.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tess. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2008 I was working as a preschool teacher. The economy was on a downward slope so my hours were drastically cut at work, I also lost my benefits. Therefore a decision had to be made so I could continue to properly provide for my children. It was at that time I decided to go back to the Nail Industry and I haven’t looked back.
Has it been a smooth road?
Getting back into the industry was not a smooth transition. I worked at several salons before branching out independently. I took a little bit from every salon I worked in. I knew what I wanted and what I did not want at my salon.
I remember being belittled at one salon I worked for and instead of allowing that to discourage me I embraced it. I took that negativity and used as my driving force. I was determined to have what I was told was unfathomable.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Glamourous Nailz story. Tell us more about the business.
Glamourous Nailz is located in Boca Raton. I am currently the only tech there. I specialize in acrylic. In school, I learned to work with other products but I fell in love with acrylic nail application.
My clients love that I’m very conscientious of their time and I work by appointments only. They also love the fact that I dialogue with them not only on a business level but a personal level as well.
The thing that sets me apart from other salons in my area are my hours.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The Nail Industry is always evolving. New products and techniques are always being created. Trends are constantly coming and going. I just do my best to keep up.
