Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Pereyra.
Luis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Luis Pereyra, I am a Venezuelan tattoo artist living in Miami. I started tattooing when I was twenty-three years old and have continued on for six years. I started off as a manager and a cleaner in a small tattoo shop in my town in Venezuela, where I had the time to be introduced into the tattoo world. After many practices, I finally get to hold a tattoo machine which got me excited with a mix of nervousness and happiness. Then that is when my journey started.
One year later, I traveled to different countries in Europe, where I had the opportunity to meet and tattoo inspiring people. I worked in Spain, Germany, and Denmark. Once I went back to Venezuela, my colleague invited me to work with him to improve my art and skills in tattooing. It was a great time working with him and him educating me. Unfortunately, because of the situation in my country, I had to leave and move to Medellin, Colombia. Once I moved back, I worked and lived there for almost three years, working with many talented artists in three different tattoo shops. While living in Colombia, I decided to move to America to find better opportunities for me and for my tattoo career. Currently, I am now working in Miami, Florida, in one of the best tattoo studios in the area. I have also met incredible friends here that I am blessed to have in my life. I am grateful to do what I love in this country and have supportive friends with me by my side through my journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every tattoo is a challenge, and I’m always learning from them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a tattoo artist, and I specialize in color and black and gray. Usually, clients come to me wanting vibrant colors on their tattoo designs. I am really proud that people trust me a part of their skin to make beautiful art that lasts forever. I am always professional and respect my client’s skin. I think it is a hard job but I love it.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Constancy, patience, kindness, experience, talent, and being perseverant.
