Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Morris.
Hi Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hearing stories of my great-grandmother, Mattie B., who raised my mother, was her town’s healer and phenomenal cook and soapmaker, fascinated me throughout my years of life. Always up to trying new things, a few friends urged me to make my creations public, so in 2015, I launched Glowrious Bath & Body. I created whipped butters that I hoped people would love, not because of its properties but because of its fragrance. I continued to perfect my creations, yet in 2017 a new need was literally birthed in 2017.
See, in 2017, I gave birth to my daughter, who (at that time) suffered from severe atopic dermatitis. After countless appointments with doctors and specialists and with a counter lined with prescriptions that were of no help, I decided to use my healing hands to heal my daughter (as I know my Mattie B would have). In 2018 Glowrious Bath & Body went all-natural. I eliminated all of the synthetic smell-good stuff and concentrated on creating products that were more than naturally fragrant but offer relief, help, healing, and wellness. Fast forward to today, Glowrious Bath & Body offers more than just whipped butters, but also handcrafted healing soaps, edible scrubs, concentrated oils, refreshing mists, and other bath and body essentials.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe anything worth having is worth fighting for. Has my 6-year journey with GBB been easy? NO! There are many times I have wanted to throw in the towel because of doubt, unsure of myself or what I was doing; because of fear, again not knowing what I was doing or if I was doing it correctly; because I was tired, as if raising young children as a single mother while having a full-time job on the side isn’t enough; because I felt stagnant, not enough orders; because I was overwhelmed, there are too many orders; because of finances, wondering how am I going to purchase supplies. These are a few of my challenges, but never have I stayed there because I have always found someone somewhere who would give an encouraging word, someone would give me a testimonial about their experience or use of my products, there would be someone who would make a ridiculous order that made my head spin. So yes, I’ve encountered many challenges but I am thankful for those who help make the journey a bit more “smooth” as I go.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I have learned that in life and in entrepreneurship, destinations are not linear. I thought things would go A, B, C, etc., but quickly realized that is not the case, so as a result, I have had to learn to accept being vulnerable and be okay with seeking help and saying, “I don’t know” when I didn’t know. I’ve learned to embrace my areas of improvement and lean into them, not hide or disguise them.
