Daily Inspiration: Meet Melody Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Rodriguez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My love for baking started with my mom as we would bake all the time when I was a little girl. Throughout my life I always baked whether it was for fun or get togethers at home. The first time I ever sold any of my baked goods was in high school. I would sell “Brookies” which was a combination of a brownie & cookie. After I graduated, I did not have much time for baking with University, dancing & work so I put that on the back burner. When COVID started and everything shut down, there was no dance or work which made me get back into baking. I had taken some sweets to my cousin’s house and they all told me I should open a business and I though “why not?” There was nothing I could lose from trying! As soon as I got home, I started brainstorming a bunch of different names and then after an hour I came up with Crazy ‘Bout Sweets. Crazy ‘Bout Sweets launched mid-June 2020 and it’s been one of the best rides of my life!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course every journey has its challenges. I believe one of my greatest challenges is balancing my time and planning new arrivals that everyone would enjoy. When orders began to pick up for Halloween which was my first major Holiday, it was hard to space out all of the orders to best accommodate everyone, but I am very fortunate to have my mom and sister who help me out so much when they can!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently a full time student at Barry University as a Psychology major specializing in child & adolescent development. I have been a dancer since I was three years old and have been in love with it ever since. I have been fortunate enough to be able to perform on various award shows such as Premios Juventud & Premio lo Nuestro performing with artists such as Daddy Yankee, Maluma, J Balvin, Lyanno, Marc Anthony, and many more! I am also a dance instructor for Learning of the Arts, a performing art after school program at multiple daycares.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
As I am a small online business, there are many easy ways one can help support! Anything from likes, shares and word of mouth is a great way to inform others of my business and sweets! Any time someone places an order from me, it truly means the world and I always make sure my customers know that. When customers post on their social media my sweets, it makes others curious and want to check out my page, that is why sharing is one of the best and easiest ways of support! Many of us are always on social media, anyway right?
