Today we’d like to introduce you to Dudly Etienne-Harvard.
Dudly earned her B.A. in Construction Engineering Technology from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida. Dudly has held several Project Engineering positions in Commercial Construction with an emphasis on Education, Parks & Recreations, Hospitality, Health Care Facilities, and much more prior to starting her business. Her love for construction would not allow her to leave the construction industry. After being laid-off from her employer, Dudly decided to move back to Miami, Florida and start her own business. She wanted a fresh start and home was where she wanted to reside. After arriving back home, Dudly lived with her mother and conducted business in one of the already pre-occupied bedroom’s (lol). Dudly knew her ultimate end result and the start-up of her business will be difficult, but re-awarding at the same time. Dudly purchased a printer and a laptop she brought back with her from her former employment in Granbury, TX. Dudly built her network within the South Florida areas and finally landed her biggest contract which was with the AmericanAirline Area. Although Dudly’s company assist small businesses on obtaining opportunities on large commercial construction projects, it felt gratifying that her first biggest contract was with an organization that truly believed in hiring small businesses and they selected her company to assist them on obtaining that goal. As her company reputation grew, so did her clientele base. Dudly understand the power of financial freedom. While running her business, Dudly and her husband started a development/investment company were they renovate homes and will soon invest in product driven start-up companies. Also, Dudly has a t-shirt apparel line that was manifested by the services she provides and the people she met. The t-shirt messages are – 1. IBUILD and 2. Black Investors.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. It took my company about four years to make a true profit. Furthermore, moving back to south Florida, I had to build my network. With the services I provide, companies and people must trust that you have the experience and relationships prior to hiring your company. I had to provide free services, get involved within the community to understand my community again. I reached out to individuals and companies for mentorship and learned as much as I can about south Florida construction and stakeholders within the counties I wanted to do business with.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in preparation and then waiting for God to open the doors to your season. We all have seasons. Some seasons give abundance, some seasons require us to standstill and enjoy the fruit of our labor and other seasons is hardship. When you prepare properly you can withstand all seasons. I prepared for my seasons and mapped which quarter produce less revenue and during that quarter I stand still and enjoy the fruit of my labor. During this pandemic, I am blessed to still have a business. I consider this a hardship. Thanks to my prior preparation, I am willing to tough it through.
