Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica York.
Jessica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The Healing Junkie Herbal Apothecary was founded in 2018 as a result of a 5-year healing journey back to Wellville. I went from being obliviously addicted to food and temporary pleasures to consciously addicted to healing. In the process, I felt this calling to plants.
With lots of encouragement from my brother, Jason, I started selling the very same teas that supported me on my journey and began sharing my experiences on social media in hopes to empower others to take their health into their own hands as well.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was definitely not a smooth road. Dealing with the of loss of my mother, growing up in foster care to then be adopted by a family that wasn’t very supportive, overcoming challenges was something I learned at very young age.
What I know to be true is that I can invoke a shift in the feelings that accompany those challenges by handling them with steady care and awareness. And when things get tough, I just remind myself that it’s all part of the journey, to go at my own pace and set my own benchmarks because even the smallest change will make a big difference.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Healing Junkie Herbal Apothecary – what should we know?
The Healing Junkie offers a variety of herbal products ranging from multi-benefit healing teas, powder supplements, tinctures and salves to herbal skincare products; all handcrafted in small batches. Plus, we are 100% vegan friendly!
In addition to offering hand-crafted herbals, our fellow self-healers can access free vegan recipes, custom blends and have access to a range of iridologists upon request.
I am most proud of our sustainability and “no compromise” initiatives. We strive to keep our personal commitment by using recyclable materials and because we believe that organic should be the only choice when it comes to our customer’s health and well-being, we promise to only source organic options and to never use conventional products regardless of price or profit.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe that being the change I want to see, expecting nothing, never taking more than what I need, respecting other living beings and doing things with good intentions are the most important qualities that have contributed to my success.
